Some homeschool days are independent work. Other days are up close and personal.

Today, the Holy Spirit showed me it’s not always that he doesn’t want to do it or doesn’t know how. Sometimes he just needs the proximity.

It took everything in me to stay in that chair with my to-do list screaming and my other kids needing me too.

I’ve questioned if I heard God on this journey. But today I asked better questions:
Lord, what do You want me to learn? What do You want me to do?

His answer: Be present.

Obedience doesn’t always look like a big leap. Sometimes it looks like staying seated when every part of you wants to get up.

It means being present. Not half there with my mind on the laundry, the business, the ministry, the next thing. Fully there. Eyes on him. Listening to how he works through a problem. Letting the silence sit instead of rushing him.

And here’s the why:

Because presence is what God gives me. He doesn’t hand me a worksheet and walk off. He sits with me. He stays close when I’m struggling through something I “should” already know. How can I receive that from Him and not give it to my son?

Because my child isn’t reading my to-do list. He’s reading my face. He’s learning whether he’s worth my full attention or just what I have left over.

Because the lesson on the page will be forgotten. The feeling of his mama sitting right beside him won’t.

And because obedience in the small, unseen moments is where God is actually forming me. Nobody claps for staying in the chair. That’s exactly why it counts. 🧡
