The world was forever changed, on that dark September day.
The towers left to crumble…. blue skies turned to gray.
So many forced to leave us and walk the stairs to heaven.
Sadly due from the outcomes of what is now known as 9/11.

They made their point quite clear, as they drove the planes into the towers
They wanted to show all Americans, we had completely lost all power.
How could we let this happen? How did we not know?
The fear we felt that day will always linger in our soul.

When the towers did come down- all you saw were smoke filled streets.
Those lucky enough to survive are now left forever incomplete.
For they saw first hand the terror and felt the vicious hate
The way that they were taken….. there is no way that was their fate

Some were forced to jump, simply to escape the heat
Others watched in horror as they were running down the street.
Some were never found…likely buried in the debris
So how can we proudly say again, …”this is the land of the free.”?

Lets always remember the heroes, who showed they were so brave.,
Even though they too were scared, they had many lives to save.
To all the police and firemen that gave their lives that day,
We promise we will never forget you or the sacrifice that you made.

There were also those braves ones that took over their flight…
They knew they were going down, but not without a fight.
They stood up for our flag and made us very proud,
And even though they’re not here with us, their message rang quite loud.

They expressed to us all -we have to stand and face our fears
That is clearly the message -they wanted all Americans to hear.
Who knows how many lives -they ended up saving on that day,
Unfortunately their own life was the price they had to pay.

It just makes no sense; you can’t help but feel such pain…
Too many American lives… horrendously taken in vain.
To all Americans taken from us on that horrifying day
Please know we won’t stop fighting for someone has to pay.

They stripped us of our peace of mind; it’s really quite a shame,
The saddest thing about it though… is we will never be the same.
And though it may take some time, we can’t live our lives in fear,
We can just remember those that were taken each and every single year.
