Oversaturated on pumpkin spice?!
Our Maple Tahini Latte is one of our favorite new fall rituals that sprang from the Elixir Bar: rich tahini, the right amount of maple, a touch of vanilla with espresso and oat milk. Nutty, lightly sweet and just cozy enough for the cooler days ahead.
And get this for good measure: sesame has a long history with Eastern Medicine and food therapy, particularly as a nourishing food. It’s one of the little ways we like bringing traditions into something familiar - your daily coffee ritual.
Can’t make it to the Elixir Bar to try? Make one at home. DM us and we’ll send you the recipe.
A little peel with a long history.
Citrus peel has a place in Traditional Chinese Medicine, where ingredients are chosen for their purpose. The Chen Pi shown here offers a glimpse into that tradition.
Digestive Harmony draws on this same heritage, combining eight Chinese herbs, including red tangerine peel, Ju Hong, with a orange-chai flavor combination for an easy daily ritual.
Scoop, stir, and take a moment for digestive harmony.
Fall in Minnesota, through the D’AO lens.
When we started thinking about the fall menu at the Elixir Bar, we could have gone pumpkin spice, but we intentionally went somewhere else.
The Mandarin Mocha starts with something familiar: espresso, oat milk and cacao. Then comes orange, bringing brightness to the richness of the cup and a nod to the long use of citrus peel in Traditional Chinese Medicine to move Qi and support digestion.
It’s what we want the Elixir Bar to be: familiar rituals, reimagined through a different point of view.
Coffee can still be coffee and a mocha can still be a mocha…we just think there are more interesting places to take it.

When life gives us pears, we make an elixir.
Fall has always been an important season in Traditional Chinese Medicine. As the weather turns cooler and drier, the focus shifts toward supporting the Lungs, nourishing the body and preparing for the season ahead.
And one of our favorite ingredients for the transition? Pear.
Traditionally used to moisten and nourish the Lungs, pear has long been part of the seasonal conversation. It’s why you’ll find it in our Immunity Support formula, and why it felt right at home in the D’AO Pear Flower drink that we crafted for our fall menu.
Pear, yuzu, botanical boba and Vital Qi Tea, finished with our Spiced Earth Foam and dried citrus.
Inspired by tradition. Made for fall.

As autumn begins, Traditional Chinese Medicine recognizes a shift in energy.
Yang begins to give way to Yin. The outward energy of summer starts to turn inward, bringing us into the season of the Metal Element.
Metal is connected with the Lungs, Large Intestine, and the rhythm of taking in and letting go. It’s a season to breathe deeply, make space, nourish yourself well, and begin moving at a different pace.
Breathe. Release. Nourish. Rest.
Welcome to Metal season.
Five Elements Latte, made for fall.
Espresso, oat milk, star anise, cinnamon, clove, fennel and black pepper. A blend of warming, aromatic spices inspired by Traditional Chinese Medicine, where ingredients like these have long been appreciated for supporting warmth, digestion and balance as the seasons change.
It’s the kind of drink we had in mind when we built the Elixir Bar: familiar enough to be your morning latte, with a little more intention behind what goes into it.
Strong + grounded. Warming + spiced.
And as Minneapolis starts to cool down, it’s only getting better. We’ll be serving the Five Elements Latte at the Elixir Bar all fall….with more to come!
Five elements, brought together in one warm, balanced cup.
Each flavor has a place, coming together in a latte that’s entirely unique and unexpected.
The Five Elements Latte at the DAO Botanical Elixir Bar in Minneapolis, MN.
There’s the food we digest, and everything else.
In Tradition Chinese Medicine, both begin with Earth.
The Earth Element is associated with nourishment, digestion, and our ability to process what we take in - physically, mentally, and emotionally.
When life feels especially full, Digestive Harmony offers a warm, intentional ritual: a moment to pause, ground, and return to center.
