Meet Rick ✨

Every story has a beginning, and for Creations, that beginning was Rick Probus and his vision to create something of his own.

Rick started in the beauty industry at just 15 years old, attending barber school while finishing high school. After working in a Middletown salon for five years, he opened Creations Hair Design on October 5, 1982, at only 23 years old. What began with three people grew into a salon and reputation known throughout Louisville.

What Rick has always loved most about hair is the transformation—not just how someone looks, but how they feel. One of his favorite moments was hearing a client say through tears, “I’ve never felt this beautiful in my entire life.” 🤍

Rick’s career took him far beyond the salon. After discovering a new hair extension technique, he trained in California and brought it back to this half of the country, becoming the first in the area to offer it in 1986. That eventually led him into the music industry, where he had the opportunity to do hair and makeup for artists including The Judds, Alan Jackson, Tanya Tucker, and the Mandrell sisters.

Over the years, Rick’s work evolved into what would become his greatest passion: women’s hair replacement. After a woman with extremely thin hair told him, “I have faith in you. Let’s go on this journey together,” Rick discovered a passion that has never gotten old—helping women feel beautiful and like themselves again.

When Rick began thinking about stepping away from ownership, nine other people were interested in taking over Creations. Then came a Tuesday evening phone call with Jess. Rick says that when he heard her voice for the first time, he immediately felt God telling him, “There’s your girl.”

The very next day, they met in person, and Rick knew she was the right person to carry Creations into its next chapter.

Rick’s story is such a huge part of the heart of Creations, and we are incredibly grateful that his story and his talent continue to be part of ours. ✨

10 years ago today, I signed a contract that completely changed the course of my life.

At just 21 years old, I said yes to something that felt equal parts exciting and terrifying. This opportunity unexpectedly landed in my lap, and if I’m being honest, I had no idea what I was doing. I just knew something in me couldn’t let it pass by.

The last 10 years have been filled with beautiful moments, difficult seasons, countless lessons, and more blessings than I ever could’ve imagined. Looking back now, every challenge was worth it because it helped shape not only this business, but who I am today.

One of the greatest gifts this journey has given me is the people. To my incredible team, you are so much more than coworkers. You are family, and I truly couldn’t imagine this salon without you.

A special thank you to Rick Probus for seeing something in the 21-year-old me that I wasn’t able to see in myself. Thank you for trusting me to carry on what you had built. I’ll always be grateful for the opportunity you gave me.

To my family and friends, thank you for standing by my side through it all. Thank you for believing in me, encouraging me, and loving me through every season of this journey. I’m so grateful for the people God has placed in my life who have been there every step of the way.

Most of all, I’m thankful for God’s faithfulness. His plans have always been greater than anything I could have imagined, and I’m so grateful this journey became part of my story.

Today, I’m especially proud of that uncertain 21-year-old who chose courage over comfort, took a leap of faith, and kept showing up through every season.

Meet Malia ✨

With 3 years in the beauty industry, Malia specializes in blonding, lived-in color, and extensions. Growing up in her grandmother’s salon, she developed a love for hair at a young age and has been passionate about it ever since.

She loves helping clients restore the health of their hair, whether they’re recovering from chemical damage or simply looking for a fresh start. Her favorite part of being a stylist is helping her clients regain confidence while creating beautiful, healthy hair.

Behind the chair, Malia is cheerful, supportive, and loves building genuine connections with her clients. Whether you need someone to chat with, vent to, or simply relax with, she strives to create a welcoming experience tailored to whatever you need that day.

For Malia, hairstyling never feels like work. She loves the creativity the industry brings and enjoys making every appointment a fun and rewarding experience.

When she’s not in the salon, you’ll find her gardening with her family, spending time with her two boys, or in the kitchen cooking, baking, and canning. She’s currently in nursing school while continuing to grow her career as a stylist, bringing her passion for caring for others into everything she does.

Meet Hannah ✨

With 8 years in the beauty industry, Hannah specializes in blonding and lived-in color, creating seamless, low-maintenance results while always prioritizing healthy hair. She loves helping her clients feel like the best version of themselves and loves using hair as her creative outlet.

She loves creating soft, seamless color that is beautiful and easy to maintain. Behind the chair, Hannah is warm, genuine, and a little goofy. She loves building real relationships with her clients and creating an experience where they feel cared for from the moment they sit down.

Outside of the salon, you’ll usually find her at home with her energetic little boy, tending to her garden, or checking out a new restaurant and trying recipes inspired by her latest favorite meal.

Whether you’re looking for a subtle refresh or a beautiful lived-in blonde, Hannah’s goal is for every client to leave feeling refreshed, confident, and excited about their hair.
