Sleepy Girl Gardens

Vanilla Clove, Citrus Cedar (with a touch of cinnamon), and Pumpkin Pie are coming with me tonight for the Confluence Market in Hyde Park. The market runs from 5-9 at Sagebrush Collective.

This Saturday will be the last Nampa Farmer’s Market for the year. October is always my time to recover from the every Saturday grind and stock up before the holidays.

Nampa Farmer’s Market is located at Lloyd Park by the Train Station and runs from 9-1:30.

My garden now has rows of broadleaf plantain and I love it. Its rich green is beautiful.

Plantain is great for calming down itches. If you see this out and about, just crush a leaf and apply it right to a bug bite and it will take the itch out. I infuse it into most of my products because of its calming properties. I even use the plantain salve as an under eye cream. And to think I used to just pull and compost it thinking it was a nuisance…

I love when I get to mail gifts for people. I add a little tissue paper and sticker so when it is received, it feels like a little celebration. It’s the balance between sustainable practices and a little whimsy. I normally use only repurposed paper that I have received through shipped materials to make the products. Gifts get a little something extra on my dime just because they deserve it.

I really hope these are mature enough to be filled with all the fibery goodness to have tons of luffas for you guys this year!!

Did you know that each calendula petal is plucked to go in our soaps? The whole calendula head has resins that support skin health so I keep it intact when I dry them and for infusions. However, the receptacle and sepal (base of flower) are sharp, so they must be removed for the soaps. Petals are used in the actual soap and on top just to make it pretty. It’s these details as a grower and maker that bring me joy. I love the details.
