💜 Celebrating One Year of Tia at The Healing Point! 💜

One year ago today we snapped this picture, Tia joined our team, and y’all… what a blessing she has been.

If you’ve had the pleasure of being on her table, you already know. Tia has such a calm, grounding presence and truly cares about helping people feel better. She has a way of making clients feel comfortable, heard, and cared for from the moment they walk in.

As a therapist, she is thoughtful, skilled, and always willing to learn and grow. As a teammate, she has been dependable, kind, and an important part of what makes our little healing space special.

One thing I appreciate about Tia is that she genuinely wants to help people. That heart matters in this work.

If you haven’t booked with her yet, this is your sign. Whether you’re needing to relax, work through tension, or just take care of yourself a little better, she’s got you. 💜

Help me celebrate Tia’s one year anniversary at The Healing Point and show her some love in the comments! 👏🏽💜

A case study from Bobbi: Mixed Grip. Mixed Signals.

Heavy lifters are great job security for me. And before the internet comes for me… I am a huge advocate for getting strong and staying strong.

But I recommend you approach it like Mr. Miyagi, not Arnold Schwarzenegger.

A client came in with significant pain in the anterior aspect of her arm and shoulder. As we worked through assessments, a pattern started showing up.

On the supinated side of her mixed grip (palm up), the shoulder flexors and internal rotators had essentially checked out and the extensors and external rotators had been picking up the slack.

On the opposite side? The reverse pattern.

At one point, I unconsciously positioned my own arms in a mixed grip while talking to her and asked, “What are you doing in this position over and over?”

She immediately laughed and said, “Oh… that’s how I lift.”

I asked, “Do you ever switch your hands?”

Nope. Always the same way.

And there it was.

Years of loading the body into the same rotational strategy over and over.

Now before anyone panics… I’m not saying stop lifting. Please keep training, but if you’re going to use a mixed grip, share the love.

Switch sides sometimes. Don’t always rotate and stabilize the exact same way under load. Your body adapts to what you repeatedly ask of it.

The goal isn’t weakness.

The goal is strength without compensation.

Keep lifting. Just be a ninja about it 💜

An update from our owner:

A client looked at me yesterday and said…

“Wait… you own this place??”

Yes. Yes, I do 😆

Most people don’t realize I’m the owner because I’m also a full-time therapist. I’m usually in a treatment room, elbows deep in fascia, trying to figure out why your shoulder has been mad since 2009 😅

I also almost never come out from behind the camera. I know… I’m working on that part. Truth is, I stay busy learning, growing, and helping clients. I’m constantly taking advanced trainings and refining my work.

For those who are newer here, hi 👋 I’m Bobbi Lynn Carter, owner of The Healing Point and a Licensed Massage Therapist since 2003. Over the years my work has evolved into Advanced Corrective Bodywork, blending massage, NKT (Level 3), myofascial work, motor control, nociception work, TMJ therapy, corrective exercise, and a whole lot of curiosity.

I’ve worked with everyone from athletes and chronic pain clients to babies (my youngest client was just 3 months old).

A quick update: I’m no longer accepting new maintenance massage or IST clients, but I am accepting new Advanced Corrective Bodywork clients and professional referrals for more complex cases.

Need therapeutic massage, prenatal, deep tissue, or maintenance care? My team is amazing, highly trained, and you will be in great hands.

I’ve got lots of cool things to share soon… behind-the-scenes, case studies, neuro nerd stuff, and maybe a little more of me stepping in front of the camera 😅

Thanks for trusting us to help heal Memphis… one session at a time 💜
