My 43rd birthday! ✨
I wanted to serve barefaced Sailor Moon, elder millennial realness—and I think I understood the assignment. 🌙
I woke up to the beautiful sounds of nature and watched the sunrise over the lake. This weekend, I told someone how excited I am to get deeper into my forties. I’m just starting to really know me, and I really like her. I’m unapologetic about it.
I’m also thankful that staying hydrated, keeping up with a good skincare routine, and saying what’s on my mind are like a fountain of youth. 😌
43 and filler-free… at least for now. 🤣 🎉

That last clip went on for 29 minutes. Twenty-nine freaking minutes. 🤬
And we’re not even talking about the time I had the camera facing the right way, forgot to hit record, or pressed the button twice. 😤
I was trying to film myself creating my personal custom foundation formulas. If you’d seen what I meant to record, there would’ve been beautiful rainbow swirls, skincare additions, ingredient details—and me formulating my foundation from scratch.

For years, I thought I had a lot of different titles. Now I understand that they were all building the same thing:
I am a founder.
Looks by Jatia Amour was where my artistry became a business. It carried me through makeup, esthetics, education, custom formulation and years of serving women whose needs were often overlooked by the beauty industry.
But the vision grew beyond one name, one service and one version of me.
The service side of Looks by Jatia Amour is evolving into Amour Esthetic Studio—the home of corrective skincare, bespoke complexion and results-driven beauty services.
But Looks by Jatia Amour is not disappearing.
The original brand will remain the home of my creative endeavors: the artistry, ideas, collaborations and projects that do not belong inside one treatment room or service category.

A custom foundation appointment can lead to more than the right shade.
I begin each consultation with a skin analysis. It helps me understand the skin I’m formulating for and make informed recommendations. For this client, that conversation led us to add a facial to her appointment, too.

If you chose option three on my last post—you were absolutely right. 👏🏾
The right side is her custom foundation. I always do a half face comparison because the water based, mineral formula looks like skin so I wasn't to make sure my clients see what was corrected.
Custom foundation formulation goes far beyond finding the correct base shade. That’s only where the process begins.
Once I select your base, I use colors from across the color wheel🎨 to tone and color-correct your formula according to your complexion, desired coverage and skin’s specific needs.
This client was experiencing redness and sensitive skin, so I created her formula to:
