First frost in the U.P. this weekend ❄️ In our treatment rooms, frost means something else entirely.

During a ZO 3-Step Peel, the skin often takes on a soft, frosty white as the peel goes on. It's a normal part of the process, and one our estheticians watch closely. The peel is a blend of salicylic, lactic and TCA acids that lifts away dull, sun-damaged surface skin, followed by a retinol cream and a calming cream to support renewal.

The result is fresher, smoother, more even-toned skin. It's one of our favorite treatments for sun damage, uneven pigment, rough texture, enlarged pores, fine lines, and sometimes even acne.

Peels can feel a little spooky. Some common questions are: "Will it burn?" "Will I be peeling in sheets at work?" "Will it make my dark spots worse?"

Honestly, this particular peel is a little spicy (but it's worth it!) You'll feel heat and a 'stingly' sensation during application. We use a cooling fan to keep you as comfortable as possible. You will peel, and there's about a week of social downtime, so plan around it. To keep your results even, you will prep your skin with ZO homecare in the weeks before your peel, and we'll ask you to let the peeling happen on its own, since picking can lead to dark spots.

What to expect:
- About 30 minutes in office
- Redness for 2 to 3 days
- Peeling usually starts around day 2 or 3 and wraps up by about day 7
- No sweaty workouts, saunas or direct sun while you heal
- Smoother, brighter-looking skin once peeling is done
- A series of 3 is a generally recommended, spacing each treatment about 4 weeks apart

Fall and winter are the best seasons for a peel, with less sun and more time indoors. If you have a quiet week coming up, this is a great way to use it.
