At Eric Fisher Academy, where I attended Esthetician School, there was a requirement to do our makeup and hair like our favorite celebrity…Guess who I chose? 💖 A special thanks to the beautifully talented .artistry for making this look happen.
I’m glad this picture is from the décolleté up, or I would have failed the requirement!

People know I love Dolly…heck, We ALL 🩷 Dolly. I even have her coffee table book and a plaque of a quote she said in the my Glo waiting room (along with my pink couch)! 😉

While she was unfailingly witty and gifted as a songwriter, musician, actress, and business woman, the true reason I’ve always been drawn to her is because she was AUTHENTIC & REAL…All The Time.
She Was Who She Was Wherever She Was At.

I love LIGHT. I’ve always said, if I could be a fixture in a house, it would be a giant chandelier.
The last few days, I feel like a lightbulb has been flickering on and off in my chandelier…but it hasn’t gone out. I’m holding on tight to the light she left behind.

Dolly left us with a Little Glitter and A Lot of Glow…
I just know her BIG, BRIGHT, BEAUTIFUL SPIRIT flitted right up to Heaven and now she’s cracking jokes with Jesus.

I never met her, but I feel her.
And, I Will Miss Her. 💖

REAL TALK:

Make-Up…it CAN be fun. We also use it THINKING it will hide our ‘imperfections’ that lie just beneath the surface.
I did.

Viewing these side-by-sides makes me both HAPPY & SAD.

THE HAPPY:
- I’m not trying to hide
- I feel I look younger as I’ve aged
- My skin is MUCH healthier
- I save TONS of money by investing in quality skincare instead of make-up
- I see massive inner & outer growth from who I used to be

THE SAD:
- I was hiding what was already perfectly imperfect
- I really thought I looked prettier with that gunk on my face
- My skin was unhealthy and very congested. Covering up breakouts with foundation or concealer made it look worse.
- I (obviously) spent RIDICULOUS money on eyeliner 👀
- I was unknowingly aging myself
- I see a sad, unhappy girl TRYING SO HARD to be somebody she wasn’t

THE TRUTH:
- Sometimes I feel I look boring or that I’ve let myself go. I would love to have my lash extensions again (not pictured)
- I DO wear a small amount of makeup but only if I have an event, primarily mascara and a little lip color
- I miss having a little botox in my forehead and around my mouth, but I don’t miss it that much…I’ve had no botox or filler in 2.5 years
- My ImageSkincare routine is 100% non-negotiable, but NOT extensive. I dermaplane myself once a month, & sometimes give myself a HydraFacial. As a business owner, I find it hard to prioritize myself, but I’m trying.
- I AM SLOWLY LEARNING to live out of my TRUE identity, let go of what others think, stop comparing myself, allow for time to take care of myself, and accept being perfectly imperfect.

NONE OF THIS IS EASY TO SHARE (especially allowing you to see some of these pictures), but IT’S WORTH IT.

In choosing to be vulnerable, my hope is you will learn from my experience: make-up doesn’t really cover up anything. Taking a few moments for yourself, investing in your skin health and personal growth, and embracing your natural outer beauty is what truly allows your authentic, inner beauty to shine through…without hiding.

That’s the ME I care to see. That’s the YOU the world wants to see.
