Hi, Manchester! I thought it was time to reintroduce myself 😊
I’m the owner and nail tech behind Set and Stone Nail Suite, a private nail and foot-care studio right here on the square in Manchester. If you’re new here, or you’ve seen my name around but haven’t met me yet .. nice to meet you 😁
I’ve been a nail tech for almost 4 years and am a Certified Master Pedicurist, with a mission to change the standard of the traditional salon experience. My focus is on nail and skin health, advanced pedicures, structured manicures, toenail reconstruction, and creating a relaxing, personalized experience for every client.
My goal with Set & Stone is to create a space where you can slow down, feel comfortable, and know that your individual nail and foot-care needs are being taken seriously. My services cater to senior and diabetic clients, with a strong focus on healthy, gentle care for your feet. I also specialize in structured gel manicures and nail art if you want to have some fun 🥰

This is what callus reduction is supposed to look like:
1. Assess: We begin by examining what your skin and nails are showing us, and try to get to the bottom of what is causing your concerns. This helps make a plan for what approach is best for YOUR feet.
2. Reduce: Callus buildup and rough areas are gently reduced in a way that teaches your skin that it’s not necessary to grow at thick. Intentionally managing only the areas that need to be reduced is what really makes the difference in keeping your skin smooth!
3. Smooth: This is the step that will give you that soft skin feeling that you take home. We remove the surface build up with an extra fine grit to be sure we don’t damage your healthy skin.
4. Hydrate: Rejuvenating your skin with moisture at the end of the service is one of the most important parts. When your skin lacks in hydration, it lacks in elasticity, which results in cracked heels, thickened callus, etc.
5. Maintain: Your care doesn’t end when you leave our chair. We recommend products and care routines that fit your lifestyle and skin needs to help your feet looking and feeling their best!

Hot take? Maybe, but there should be very minimal clipping of the skin around your nails. I know, that “ingrown” pain is a different kind of hurt, but going to the wrong pedicurist can just make it worse.
Most of the time, that pain is coming from soap scum, sock lint, etc. Totally normal and totally manageable by cleaning out the gunk that collects under our nails!
Think of it like a splinter - you aren’t going to tear your skin apart trying to get it out, because you know that would just make the pain worse. Same concept with the pressure on your nails. The gentler the approach, the better you will feel!
