Today, I stopped by the salon to gather a few supplies.

I thought I was prepared, but the moment I walked through the door, the reality of it all hit me again. Looking at what was once my livelihood—20 years of hard work, dreams, memories, and relationships—reduced to a heap of rubble brought me to tears.

This September 20th was supposed to mark my 20th anniversary in business. I imagined celebrating that milestone surrounded by the salon that has been my second home for two decades. Instead, I found myself standing in the middle of destruction, wondering how something built over 20 years could change in an instant.

Then, something caught my eye.

My orchid.

Against all odds, she had bloomed again… for the third time.

In the middle of the dust, broken walls, and uncertainty, there she was—a quiet reminder that life has a remarkable way of finding the strength to bloom again.

Maybe that’s the lesson I needed today.

There is still hope.

This chapter is heartbreaking, but it is not the end of my story. With the love and support of my family, friends, and all of you—my incredible clients—I know I will survive this. And when the time comes, we will rebuild together.

Thank you for believing in me, for your patience, and for reminding me that what we’ve built over the last 20 years was never just a salon. It has always been a community.

And communities grow back stronger.

It has now been three weeks since the salon accident, and I have to admit, my patience is being tested.

Right now, our lives are in a state of limbo. We’re doing everything we can to move forward, but there are so many moving parts that are simply out of our hands. We are still waiting for the insurance company to finalize the claim, and the next steps that will determine when we can begin rebuilding.

I know many of you have been asking when we’ll be able to reopen. Believe me, I wish I had that answer. If I did, I would share it immediately. Unfortunately, I can’t give you a timeline because I simply don’t have one yet.

Please know that we are working every day behind the scenes, making phone calls, following up, and pushing the process forward as much as possible. The waiting has been the hardest part.

I want to thank each and every one of you for your kindness, your understanding, and your patience during this unexpected chapter. Your messages, encouragement, and willingness to wait for us mean more than you know. We can’t wait to welcome you back into the salon, and the moment we have real news, you’ll be the first to hear it.

Until then, we ask for just a little more patience. We promise we’re doing everything we can to get back to doing what we love—taking care of all of you.

The last few days have been filled with laughter, and honestly, I think we’ve all needed it.

Who knew Zensational Hair Salon would temporarily become… Zensational Hair Everywhere? 😂

We’ve done hair in kitchens, living rooms with breathtaking ocean views, backyards overlooking even more ocean, and gardens where I may or may not have offered unsolicited gardening advice. (At this point, I consider myself somewhat of a garden expert. Don’t fact-check me.)

I’ve even worked on a patio with a life-size Winged Victory statue watching over me. I have to admit—that was a first.

As stylists, we usually invite you into our space. This time, you’ve welcomed us into yours. Every home tells a story, and it’s been such a privilege to see another side of the people we’ve known for years. From cozy kitchens to dream homes that leave me saying, “Well… maybe if I stop traveling…” each visit has inspired me in its own way.

More than anything, thank you for opening your doors, trusting us, feeding us, making us laugh, and reminding us that what we’ve built over the last 20 years is so much more than a salon. It’s a community.

Sonia and I keep saying to each other and “We really do have the best clients.”

This isn’t exactly how we imagined doing house calls (although I’m starting to think I should add “mobile salon” to my résumé 😆), but you’ve made a difficult time feel surprisingly joyful.

Thank you for sticking with us through the chaos, the uncertainty, and now the adventure. We can’t wait to welcome you back into the salon—but until then, we’ll happily keep bringing the salon to you.

Sometimes life hands you a situation so unexpected, so frustrating, and so completely out of your control that there are only three words that truly capture how you feel.

This candle wasn’t created out of anger.

Monday 7/13/26, a car crashed into our salon. Since then, it’s been a whirlwind of insurance claims, contractors, inspections, endless phone calls, and waiting. While we are incredibly grateful that no one was hurt, it has been one of the most stressful moments of our life.

Like many of you, I’ve learned that life has a way of reminding us we are not always in control. Plans change. Things break. We wait for answers that never seem to come fast enough. Our patience, resilience, and sense of humor are put to the test.

If you’ve ever sat in the middle of the chaos, stared into space, and muttered those three words under your breath…

This candle is for you.

Light it when everything feels like it’s falling apart.

Light it when you need permission to admit that today simply isn’t your day.

Then take a deep breath.

Because tomorrow is another chance to rebuild, reset, and begin again.
