Thereâs something that women arenât talking about enough: âmenopause mouth.â
We talk about hot flashes, sleep changes, skin changes and mood changes during perimenopause and menopause. But changes in your mouth? Not nearly enough.
Hormonal changes can affect oral health, too. In a 2025 survey of women 40+, 40% reported increased dry mouth, while others reported increased tooth sensitivity, changes in taste and increased tooth decay or tooth loss.
And dry mouth isnât just uncomfortable. Saliva helps protect your teeth from acids and bacteria, so when thereâs less of it, your risk for cavities, sensitivity and other oral health problems can increase.
At Deep Roots Dental & Facial Aesthetics, we believe your mouth is part of the bigger picture. Oral health is whole-body health, and changes in your teeth and gums can sometimes tell us something about whatâs happening beyond your smile.
Your mouth changes, too. If something feels different, letâs talk about it. Because understanding your oral health means looking at the whole picture, not just your teeth.

Maybe we do dentistry a little differently. đżđ¤
Deep Roots was created to feel different from the moment you walk through the door.
Yes, we take care of your teeth. But we also look at the bigger picture: your comfort, your confidence, your long-term oral health and the things that can affect how you look and feel.
That means comprehensive dental care in a modern, welcoming space, a bilingual dentist for patients who feel more comfortable speaking Spanish, and facial aesthetics with Angela, including customized facials, peels, microneedling and more.
Because taking care of yourself doesnât always fit neatly into one box.
Dentistry. Facial aesthetics. One team that gets to know you.

More than 20 years into her career, Dr. Marnie Bauer, DMD, was still asking: What can we build next?
Deep Roots Dental & Facial Aesthetics grew from decades of experience, but also from Marnieâs belief that there is always room to evolve, to create something better and to bring other people along with you.
That philosophy extends far beyond dentistry.
When Marnie was recognized among the 2023 Women to KNOW, her story centered on leadership, innovation, mentorship and a belief she has carried throughout her career:
âEmpowered women empower other women.â
At Deep Roots, that isnât just a quote. Itâs reflected in the way she leads, mentors and creates opportunities for other women to grow in their own careers.
So on American Business Womenâs Day, weâre celebrating more than the woman who helped build Deep Roots.
Weâre celebrating Dr. Marnie Bauer; dentist, entrepreneur, mentor and a woman who, more than two decades into her career, is still asking whatâs possible next. đżđ¤
Happy American Business Womenâs Day.
Things your dentist knows that you really wish we didnât. đ
That tiny thing youâve been ignoring? It can look VERY different to us than it feels to you.
Because one of the strangest things about your mouth is that something can be going wrong without hurting yet.
But hereâs where it gets really interestingâŚ
Your exam and X-rays can reveal clues you canât see in the mirror and may not be able to feel: changes around and between teeth, changes in the bone supporting them, and other problems that may be developing quietly.
So no, pain isnât always the first clue.
And yes, your gums can tell on you a little.
But weâre not judging you. We actually want you to tell us everything. How long itâs been weird. What youâve been avoiding. What changed. What you thought wasnât worth mentioning.
Because the more we know, the better we can put the clues together.
So tell us the truth, the TOOTH TRUTH, and nothing but the truth. We can handle it. 𦷠đ
And if youâve been putting off an appointment because youâre worried about what we might find?
Weâd always rather see you now than wish weâd seen you sooner.

No pain, no problem? Thatâs a myth, and Dr. Esther says itâs one worth busting.
Some dental problems can develop quietly. Cavities may not hurt at first. Gum disease can progress with little or no discomfort. Even some infections can exist before you notice obvious symptoms.
Pain isnât always the first warning sign.
Thatâs one reason routine dental exams matter. They can reveal changes you may not see, feel or even know are happening, before a small issue has the chance to become a bigger one.
Dr. Estherâs reminder: your mouth doesnât have to hurt to need attention.
Did you know this one was a myth?

Use it or lose it.
Many dental insurance plans reset at the end of the year, although coverage and reset dates vary by plan. If your plan resets January 1, unused annual benefits may not carry over.
Depending on your coverage, benefits may apply toward cleanings, exams, X-rays, fillings, crowns, periodontal care or other covered dental treatment.
Check your plan documents or contact your insurance provider to confirm your remaining benefits and any applicable deadlines.
If youâre due for a visit or have recommended treatment youâve been meaning to schedule, call Deep Roots Dental & Facial Aesthetics at 813-667-9300 before the end-of-year rush.
Angelaâs number one skincare non-negotiable: sunscreen.
âď¸
âI spend all day treating what the sun has done to peopleâs skin,â Angela says.
Thatâs why daily sunscreen matters so much, especially here in Florida. Her practical advice? Find one you actually like, because if you donât like it, you wonât use it consistently.
The SkinCeuticals Physical Fusion UV Defense SPF 50 shown here is available in-office at Deep Roots.
And yes, Deep Roots offers facial aesthetics.
Schedule a complimentary consultation with Angela to talk about your skin, your current routine and the treatments that may be right for you.

Meet Angela
âWhat do you love about your skin?â
Itâs one of the first things Angela asks during a facial aesthetics consultation at Deep Roots, because skincare shouldnât begin with a list of everything you want to âfix.â
It should begin with you.
Angela takes the time to understand what you love about your skin, what youâd like to change and what your individual goals are before recommending a treatment or home-care plan.
And no two treatments are necessarily the same.
From relaxing, customized Yon-Ka facials to more results-driven treatments including microneedling, chemical peels and dermaplaning, Angela adjusts her approach based on your skin, your comfort level and the results youâre looking for.
That personalization matters. Maybe you love your freckles and want to keep them. Maybe youâre concerned about acne scarring, texture, fine lines or sun damage. Maybe you have no idea where to start.
Thatâs why Angela offers complimentary facial aesthetics consultations.
Come in. Talk about your skin. Ask questions. And build a plan that actually makes sense for you.
Call 813-667-9300 to schedule your complimentary consultation with Angela.
Meet Dr. Esther OrdoĂąez, DDS.
Born and raised in Madrid, Spain, Dr. Esther brings extensive training in restorative dentistry, oral surgery, dental implants and aesthetic dentistry to Deep Roots Dental.
After earning her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in Madrid and completing a two-year residency in oral surgery, she continued her training in the U.S. with a two-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, where she later served as an associate faculty member.
And for our Spanish-speaking patients, thereâs another important part of the care she provides: Dr. Esther is fluent in both Spanish and English.
Because when youâre talking about your health, asking questions or making decisions about treatment, being able to communicate in the language youâre most comfortable speaking matters.
Whether you prefer Spanish or English, we speak both.
