When Should You Schedule a Head Spa Around a Color Service?

This is one of the most common questions I get! The answer depends on what type of color service you’re having done.

✨ Before a Color Appointment
A head spa can be a wonderful way to prepare your scalp and hair for color. Removing buildup, excess oil, and product residue helps create a healthier canvas for your service. I typically recommend scheduling your head spa at least 3–7 days before your color appointment.

✨ After a Color Appointment
Fresh color needs time to settle and fully oxidize. For most color services, it’s best to wait at least 1–2 weeks after your appointment before enjoying a head spa treatment. This helps protect the longevity and vibrancy of your color.

✨ For Vivids, Fashion Colors & Fresh Toners
If you’ve invested in vivid shades, pastels, or a fresh toner, waiting 2–4 weeks before a head spa is usually ideal. These colors tend to fade more quickly, and giving them extra time helps preserve your results.

Because I’m a licensed cosmetologist, certified in head spa techniques, and experienced with chemically treated and color-treated hair, every service is customized to your hair’s needs. Your products, massage techniques, and treatments are selected with your color history and hair goals in mind.
