She wanted warmth without looking artificial. We built it in layers, warmer through the mid-lengths, deeper at the root so it holds and looks like it grew that way.
Natural looking redheads are one of my favorite things to create.

Hairapy officially turns 10 today!

I’m not someone who loves a spotlight, but ten years feels worth pausing for. I’m so proud of what this little studio has become. The clients who turned into people I genuinely care about. The clean formulas I’ve believed in since day one. The fact that I get to spend my day doing something I truly love. I don’t take any of it for granted.

None of it exists without you. The appointments, the referrals, the kind words, the trust you’ve put in me year after year. You built this with me.

Their features, their lifestyle, their maintenance reality. What they mentioned last time and how it turned out.

The honest reason I went out on my own: I wanted to do hair without compromise.
Not just on the ingredients — on everything. The time I gave each client. The honesty I brought to every consultation. The formulas I was willing to put on someone’s hair. Working for someone else meant working within someone else’s standards. Opening Hairapy meant the standards were entirely mine.
Turns out that’s a specific kind of client. She found me and is referring her friends 10 years in.

This is where it all started, my first studio, the day I opened.

What started as wanting to fully control my clients’ visits — one at a time, clean formulas, no shortcuts, and always honest about what will actually work — has continued and grown more than I could have imagined.

Ten years later that part hasn’t changed, it just got better.

For those of you who didn't know, we own racehorses, but not thoroughbreds. We have Standardbreds and they do harness racing. Typically it is much more casual than thoroughbred racing especially derby week so I love an excuse to get dressed up and go to the track.
