This is not a drill. This is what protecting your skin actually looks like on vacation — hat, shade, cover-up, and yes, reapplied SPF.

(Yes, this photo is a little exaggerated. But you get my point)

Don't be a rebel — you'll regret it later. You can have the tan-adjacent glow without the damage. Ask me how I know.

Cabin air pulls moisture out of your skin faster than almost anything else you'll do to it this year.

Here's the trick I use on every flight to land glowing instead of shriveled:

Wet your face → apply a hydrating serum → seal it in with an occlusive layer. That's it. Your skin holds onto the moisture instead of losing it to the air around you.

Steal this one. Your future, post-flight face will thank you.

Packing always comes down to the same question: What actually earns a spot in the bag?

Your skin doesn't need your whole routine on vacation — just the few things that keep it calm, hydrated, and protected while you're out of your normal rhythm.

Here's exactly what I pack (and what I leave behind) ➡️

Save this for your next trip — and if you need to restock before you go, link in bio.

If you are recommending hyaluronic acid home care to your clients without first explaining the layering protocol — you are setting them up to come back confused.

HA applied to dry skin in a dry climate pulls moisture from the skin instead of adding it. Your clients will think the product is not working. They will stop using it. And they will start questioning your recommendations.

This is why ingredient literacy is not optional for a working esthetician. It is the foundation of everything your clients experience at home between treatments. When you understand what each molecular form of HA does — where it goes, what depth it reaches, what it needs to function — you give clients a protocol that actually works. And clients who get results do not look for another esthetician.

I recorded a full hyaluronic acid deep dive, Hyaluronic Acid Explained — Types, Molecular Weights, and How to Use It for Better Skin Hydration for the Facially Conscious podcast with cosmetic ingredient expert and UCLA educator Rebecca Gadberry. It covers all four molecular forms, pe*******on depth, humectant pairing, and label literacy. This is the kind of education that changes how you consult.

As non-surgical treatments become more common, one question is often overlooked: can lasers, fillers, or threads affect your ability to have a facelift later?

In this episode of the Facially Conscious Podcast, we’re joined by Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Ben Talei to discuss how prior aesthetic procedures can influence surgical planning, facial anatomy, healing, and long-term results.

We talk about fillers, thread lifts, lasers, medspa treatments, and what surgeons look for when evaluating patients who may consider facial surgery in the future.

This conversation is not about discouraging non-surgical treatments. It’s about making informed choices, respecting anatomy, and understanding how today’s cosmetic decisions may affect tomorrow’s options.

Dehydrated skin is one of the most consistent things I see in the treatment room. And it is almost always connected to one of two things: the wrong product, or the right product used incorrectly.

Hyaluronic acid falls into the second category more than anything else. The ingredient is right. The application — on dry skin, in a dry climate — creates the opposite of what people are hoping for.

This is the conversation I have in nearly every consultation with a client whose skin is feeling tight, dull, or confused. And it is the conversation that changes everything when they leave and adjust their routine at home.

The Facially Conscious podcast episode, Hyaluronic Acid Explained — Types, Molecular Weights, and How to Use It for Better Skin Hydration is the full version of what I cover one on one — the science, the layering protocol, the different forms, and why the expensive serums are not worth it.

Everything you hear from me in the treatment room is in this episode.

Is fragrance always irritating? Can you be allergic to it, or is sensitivity something different? And what does “fragrance-free” really mean?

In this episode of the Facially Conscious Podcast, Trina and Rebecca take a thoughtful, evidence-based look at fragrance in skincare, separating common myths from what dermatology, cosmetic science, and regulation actually tell us.

We discuss fragrance allergy vs. sensitivity, essential oils, ingredient labels, FDA regulation, and how to make informed skincare choices without unnecessary fear or extremes.

This conversation brings clarity to a confusing topic and helps you better understand when avoiding fragrance matters — and when it may not.

Hyaluronic acid might be the most talked-about skincare ingredient in the world — and one of the most misused.

In the latest Facially Conscious Deep Dive, I sat down with cosmetic ingredient expert and UCLA educator Rebecca Gadberry to break it all the way down. What it actually is. Why it is not an exfoliating acid. The real reason it might be making your skin tighter instead of more hydrated. The difference between hyaluronic acid, sodium hyaluronate, and hydrolyzed sodium hyaluronate — and why those differences matter.

And yes, we explained the whole thing starting with an egg. It makes sense, I promise.

If you use a hydrating serum — or you have ever wondered whether yours is actually doing anything — this episode is the one to listen to.

What’s the difference between DAXXIFY and Botox? In this episode, Dr. Doris Day breaks down neuromodulators, fillers, and the growing conversation around “injection fatigue” with a balanced, educational approach. We explore how these treatments work, what patients should realistically expect, and why personalized treatment planning matters more than following trends.

Whether you’re new to cosmetic treatments or simply curious about the latest options, this episode offers clear insight to help you make informed decisions about your skin and aesthetic goals. Listen now and tell us your thoughts in the comments!
