Four years ago, MES introduced DNA Fragmentation Index (DFI) testing to help laboratories and healthcare providers look beyond traditional semen parameters and gain additional insight into s***m DNA integrity.

A standard semen analysis evaluates important factors such as concentration, motility, and morphology, but it may not reveal damage within the s***m’s DNA. DFI testing can provide valuable information in cases involving unexplained infertility, unsuccessful IVF or ICSI cycles, or recurrent pregnancy loss.

Because understanding male fertility often means looking beyond the numbers and giving patients and providers more information to guide the next step.

What if the story of male fertility isn’t only about decline?

New research offers an encouraging reason for hope. In a large study of healthy s***m donors, researchers observed improvements in s***m concentration, total s***m count, and progressive motility over time.

These improvements coincided with broader efforts to reduce environmental pollution, suggesting that some factors affecting s***m health may be modifiable.

The takeaway? S***m health is not necessarily a fixed verdict. While no single change guarantees improvement, greater awareness, appropriate testing, healthier environments, and guidance from a healthcare provider can help men take informed steps forward.

Male fertility can change, and that means there is room for hope. 💙
