Here’s the origin story of Matrikas… I was a prenatal Massage Therapist for 26 years and my clients asked me for referrals for everything.

I found myself googling lactation consultants and Fertility coaches, but not knowing who I could actually refer to. So I started vetting referrals myself. Turns out every provider around me needed the same thing and had zero time to build it.

One-on-one coffee got old quick. So I opened my Massage office once a month. Wine, cheese, business cards on a table. No name. No plan. Just a room of people done doing this alone.

As we grew, it quickly became evident we needed a website and a structure and a name. At 3 AM one morning I sat straight up in bed and a voice told me to look for the name, I instantly found it online.

Matrikas was a collective of goddesses that ruled conception, childbirth, and children’s health. It was perfect and encapsulated the collective nature of what I was building.

Now we’re a national membership community with a few international members as well! We are 200 members and growing. Real vetting. Real referrals. Real people who show up for one another.

Y’all it has been a day! It’s been one of those days that was frustrating and amazing and exhilarating and so much work.

After a long day of sitting at the computer, I actually made it to the gym, which was great and then I got some time in the pool (don’t tell my favorite 4 year olds I made a cocktail in their Unicorn sippy cup)

Today was Weferral Wednesday and we got to gather together and workshop some business woes and celebrate some wins and make some announcements and generally just join in community which is honestly the heart of our membership and fills my cup more than anything else…

and also, I spent a lot of my day on tech-support with our platform, trying to ensure that members have the best experience, which is something I have to do a lot, but I absolutely do not enjoy and it’s incredibly frustrating to figure out how the backside of how tech works…

Today I got to take a step back and look at what we’ve created as a community and really focus on how we’re improving outcomes through collaborative care. I know it seems like a simple membership networking group isn’t going to change the world, but for some people navigating the reproductive journey it absolutely does.

And one more sidenote… It’s been proven when women are in positions of power and have control of the financial resources, the entire community is successful so this is your reminder to raise your prices or be unhinged in your messaging or send that email to that person you really wanna collaborate with or take that risk because when your passion is what you do you’ll always succeed.
