Happy 10th birthday to my dearest James 🎈You will forever be one of the greatest blessings of my life. You changed my life, and in doing so, you changed me. You bring out the most playful, childlike parts of me, you make me laugh harder than almost anyone… you make me want to be a better person.

For the last five years, I’ve had the privilege of watching you grow into yourself. And over these last three years of getting to help raise you, I’ve watched you come into your own in the most beautiful way. You are kind, WITTY, incredibly smart, wildly creative, honest to a fault, wise beyond your years, and still give the very best cuddles.

You are, quite honestly, the son I somehow feel was chosen for me. I’m so honored that you trusted me enough to let me into your heart.

I know Mommy is looking down so incredibly proud of the boy you are and the young man you are becoming.

Thank you for trusting me enough to let me be another mother in your life.

You are one of my very best friends, kiddo, and I can only hope that no matter how big you get, I’ll always be one of yours too.

35 🎂🪽 Thank you for all the birthday blessings. This chapter of my life has been my favorite so far…

I often look back at this photo of me at 18, before life really began. And somehow, at 35, I feel closer to her than I have…

Now, when I look at the journey that brought me to the present, all I have is grace for the girl I once was ~ and so much love for every version of her that had to grow and rebuild to arrive at this one. I’m in awe of it all. Maybe the greatest gift of getting older is learning to love who you’ve been, who you are, and all that you’re still becoming.

So I’m left with nothing but gratitude ~ for every lesson, every experience, and every connection that shaped me along the way. And especially for where life so gently landed me… beside a man who loved me back to my truest self, with a beautiful son, lifelong friendships old and new, a healthy family, my sobriety, and a home that somehow feels exactly where I was always meant to be.
