Tim Curry is gone at 80. For half a century, the letters kept arriving from strangers thanking him for helping them figure out who they were, and he never stopped being moved by them. He died late Tuesday night at his home in Los Angeles.

The corset was his idea. Richard O'Brien wrote Dr. Frank-N-Furter as a German mad scientist in a lab coat. Curry is the one who put him in fishnets and heels and gave him a voice like the queen, and audiences in 1975 got their first look at a man in full drag played not as a joke or a warning, but as the most magnetic person in the room.

Fox had no idea what it had. The Rocky Horror Picture Show tested badly and got dumped in Columbus, Ohio. Then the midnight screenings started, and it became the longest-running midnight movie ever made.

For decades those theaters were the one room in town where a gay kid could turn up in fishnets and be told he belonged. Curry told NPR in 2005 that the film let people try on a few roles for size and maybe work out their own s*xuality, and that the mail he got about it was very moving.

He terrified a generation as Pennywise in It and stole Clue as Wadsworth. A 2012 stroke required brain surgery and left him unable to walk, but he kept working, and published his memoir Vagabond last year.

He never publicly put a label on his own s*xuality. He didn't have to. He handed everyone else the language.

Slovak law says you don't lose your citizenship for marrying a foreigner and taking their nationality. Unless the foreigner is a gay man.

Lukáš, from central Slovakia, married Mark in Britain in August 2022. Mark works in IT. They have a house, a cat, they travel a lot. Lukáš became British through the marriage, and then a letter arrived telling him his Slovak citizenship had been revoked and asking him to surrender his Slovak documents.

Slovakia has banned dual citizenship since 2010, with an exception written in for people who take a spouse's nationality. The Interior Ministry decided that exception couldn't apply to him, because Slovakia doesn't recognize same-s*x marriage. So he lost his Slovak passport and, with it, his EU citizenship.

"If I were heteros*xual and had married a woman from another country, I wouldn't have lost my Slovak citizenship," he told The Slovak Spectator.

Two European courts are now circling. The European Court of Human Rights has asked Slovakia to explain itself, and Slovakia's own Constitutional Court has sent the question to the EU's top court in Luxembourg: can a country take away someone's EU citizenship purely because their spouse is the same s*x?

Ryan is the enforcer, the man hockey sends out to fight, who in the books carries serious anxiety and a fraught relationship with his own body. Fabian is an openly gay indie musician. The show isn't adapting one romance anymore. It's building the whole world.

Diemer will be familiar as Tyson in "Percy Jackson and the Olympians", but a certain kind of viewer knows him better as Paul in "The Half of It", Netflix's beloved q***r coming-of-age film.

Jafargholi is Welsh, and his story is stranger. He was 12 when he sang at Michael Jackson's memorial service in Los Angeles, having been invited to perform with Jackson before he died.

He grew up on British television, then played Celyn in "Lost Boys and Fairies", the BBC drama about a gay couple navigating adoption.

Season 2 arrives spring 2027 on HBO in the US, with Jacob Tierney writing and directing and Rachel Reid on board as consulting producer. Which means we are finally counting in months, not years. Enjoy the yearn.
