11 Nervous System “Hacks” That Have Helped Me 🌸

Since 2020, I’ve experienced my share of health challenges—and still do. But healing has taught me SO much about my body and why caring for my nervous system comes first.

Looking back, I realize I spent most of my life in survival mode—“fight or flight.”

My mental health is everything to me now. Everything.

I own a luxury spa, but I know not everyone can afford luxury wellness services. Some of the things that have helped me most are tiny micro habits that cost little or nothing.

Here are 11:

Calming music. My house and car basically sounds like a spa 24/7😂

Dim lighting. Warm Edison bulbs > harsh overhead lights are not my friend.

Nourishment. Juicing, green smoothies, water and being mindful of what I consume.

Epsom salt baths. Morning AND night. Dr Teal’s seriously needs to sponsor me. 😂

Movement. Stretching, walking, wall Pilates—whatever I can do.

Massage. Power of touch brings instant relief and calms your nervous system.

Nature. Sitting by the river and listening to the water resets me.

Watching what I consume. Social media, gossip, drama, bad news. Your girl LOVES true crime but we need to protect our eye and ear gates.

BOUNDARIES. Whew. My cut-off game has gotten strong when something—or someone—consistently interferes with my peace. I don’t play about my mental health anymore.

Faith & prayer. They remind me I don’t have to carry everything alone, especially when I can’t see how things will work out.

BREATHWORK. EVERYTHING to me. Learning about the vagus nerve and how breathing can support our “rest and digest” response was a game changer. I love 4-7-8 breathing: inhale 4, hold 7, exhale 8.

I’m still healing. Still learning. But today, I understand myself and my body differently.

My peace is valuable.
My mental health is valuable.
My nervous system is valuable.

And this is at the heart of Miori. Miori is nervous-system founded.

Wellness doesn’t always require hundreds of dollars. Sometimes it starts with one tiny habit.

Dim the lights. Take the bath. Breathe. Stretch. Drink the water. Sit by the river. Pray. Turn off the phone. Let your yes mean yes and your no mean NO. Not everything or everyone deserves access to you.
