Nebraska Soybean Board
Our Mission: Growing value for Nebraska farmers by maximizing their checkoff investments. Department of Agriculture, U.S.
Nine board members from across the state make up the Nebraska Soybean Board. Board members listen to reports of checkoff-funded research, marketing efforts, and promotional programs, and make future funding decisions. On a broader level, the soy checkoff helps facilitate market growth and create new markets for soybeans through marketing, research and commercialization programs. According to a 2019 return-on-investment (ROI) study, which is required by the U.S. soybean farmers received $12.34 in added value for every dollar they invested in the soy checkoff. The federal law that created the soy checkoff requires that a return on investment study be conducted every five years.

On National Farmers Day, the Nebraska Soybean Board is proud to celebrate the farmers whose commitment to agriculture helps strengthen our state, support local communities and move the soybean industry forward. Thank you, Nebraska Farmers!
This week's Nebraska Soybean Agronomy Update comes from Battle Creek in northeast Nebraska with Nate Meier, sales agronomist at Farmers Pride. After a damp, cloudy and rainy September, Nate shares what he's seeing as soybean harvest gets rolling, including wet ground, tough beans, varying moistures and purple seed stain. He also talks about pods sprouting or cracking open in the field and why a timely harvest matters, since beans that get too dry can lose yield quickly. Nate encourages growers to keep a close eye on grain samples and moisture, especially when storing beans on-farm. Most importantly, he reminds everyone to slow down and stay safe, because nothing is worth risking someone's life during the harvest rush.
