Dear Black girl with 4C hair… 🤎 Maybe loving your natural hair doesn’t mean giving up the wigs, silk presses, braids, or all the other styles you love. Maybe it just means making room to love the hair underneath them too.

I’m still learning. I love my wigs DOWN 😂, I still flat iron my hair, and I have yet to wear my natural 4C curl pattern out. But I want to get there. I want there to be days when I wear my natural hair exactly as it grows—and wear it with pride.

Welp. It’s official. I’m old now. I knew this day was coming, but I wasn’t prepared to actually SEE the evidence 😂

At least she came in shiny ✨

I’ve realized that sometimes we get so used to seeing wigs, quick weaves, and extensions as the “going-out” look that our natural hair doesn’t even cross our mind as an option.

My sister said something that really stuck with me—she got comfortable wearing her natural hair to work, but when it came time to go to a party, her first thought was still wig or quick weave. That made me think about my own habits too.

So today, I’m wearing my fro. 👩🏾‍🦱 Not because wigs are bad, but because I want my natural hair to feel just as normal when I want to look good and go out.

I’m trying to change the way I think about my own hair, one little choice at a time.

Saw the young folks doing these little transformation videos and decided I can do one too 😂 I gotta stay hip 🤭

I’ve been documenting my hair growth journey, and seeing this bald spot fill in has been one of the biggest changes for me 🤯🌱

I started being more consistent with scalp care and using the products that worked best in my routine, including my DIY Ayurvedic hair oil. I’m showing the before, the progress, and the products I’ve been using along the way.

Everybody’s hair journey is different, but consistency has definitely been a major part of mine 🖤

Finally posting this hair vlog 😂🤎 I unboxed this reddish brown curly wig, put it on fresh out the pack, and styled it for the first time. I wanted to see what I could do with it without doing too much, and this was the finished look.

The back is officially installed 🙌🏾 but the full head is definitely NOT finished yet 😂 I’m still waiting for the rest of the locs to come in so I can finish installing the front.

In the meantime, I’m trying to figure out this retightening part because whewww 😩😌 That’s the part I’m struggling with right now. I want to learn how to properly retighten the roots/new growth before I go through and do the entire head.

This whole process may be way outside my comfort zone, but I’m figuring it out as I go 🤷🏾‍♀️😂

Wondering how to install loc extensions? 🤔 Trying my hand at permanent loc extensions for the first time 👀 I’m not a loctitian, and loc maintenance is definitely not my specialty. My background is in sew-ins, extensions, and faux locs, so this is a completely different learning experience for me. I’m documenting the process because later I want to share the mistakes, what I would do differently, and what beginners should know before trying a permanent loc install.

This was Day 8 of wearing this wig, and I still loved her exactly like this. I pulled her straight out the pack and did absolutely NOTHING to her. I first put her on during Day 2 of my Panama City Beach vacation, wore her throughout the rest of my trip, brought her back home, and she was still giving 🙌🏾

I didn’t have time to do my hair, so she really came through for me. No flat iron. No extra styling. Just put her on and GO. And baby… she is THAT GIRL. 😂🔥
