Guatemala 2026 — olivia anelise 09/01/2026

Have you been feeling like you need to get away from all of the noise for a minute? I sure have.

Have you been trying to figure out how life should be? I definitely have.

…and not how it’s supposed to look or what everybody expects from you, but how you actually want to feel in your own life.

Maybe you need enough space to hear yourself again. To reconnect with your body. To actually pay attention to how you feel.

To move, breathe, eat beautiful, and lively food that nourishes you…to spend time outside, laugh, cry, have real conversations—and think about how you want to live with a little more intention.

That’s why I’m posting this invite to retreat in Guatemala.

This will be my first time in Guatemala. I’m going to experience it for the first time right alongside you—trying new things, and being completely uncomfortable.

Thankfully, we won’t be figuring it all out on our own.

Olivia and Chiko have spent several months in Guatemala and have really gotten to know this place—the people, the culture, and the rhythms of life around the lake.

I’m so grateful to have 2 of my favorite people on earth, share this with us.

If you’re able, come a couple of days early and meet us in Antigua. Wander the cobblestone streets, eat incredible food, drink Guatemalan coffee, explore, and give yourself a minute to actually arrive. This gives us a chance to integrate into the rest of the trip.

Then we’ll make our way through the Guatemalan highlands toward Lake Atitlán.

Lake Atitlán itself, is ancient. It’s a caldera lake, formed by volcanic collapse and is tens of thousands of years old. And there’s also a submerged Maya site under the water, called Sama Baj.

Volcanoes rising around you. Immense water like a breathing presence. Boats moving between villages along the shoreline. Mornings when the lake is glassy and quiet.

Seems like this whole place will put us back into our senses.

We will get on a paddleboard at sunrise. Maybe I will wobble like hell. Maybe I’ll fall in…Or maybe I’ll stand up, look around at that lake and those volcanoes and think - Holy s**t. I’m doing this and then give myself a little pat on the back.

Will I be experiencing this with you?

This retreat isn’t about everybody being at the same level. We’re not.

We come with different bodies, different stories, different comfort zones, and different strengths.

There may be moments when something feels hard. When you feel vulnerable. When you try something you’ve never done before.

…and then there may be a moment when the strongest thing you can do is say, Nope, not today. I need to rest.

There’s room for all of it.

The point isn’t to keep up with anybody. It’s to become more aware of yourself. To listen to your body, challenge yourself when it feels right, and rest when you need to.

And through all of it, we can lean on each other.

That’s a huge part of this for me.

Human connection.

Hanging out with each other. Flowing into real conversation. Camaraderie. Encouraging someone and allowing yourself to be encouraged. Being surrounded by nature and wildlife. Experiencing another culture. Laughing. Crying. Sharing stories. Being heard.

Some people may come because they’re healing. Some because they’re searching. Some because they’ve spent so much time taking care of everybody else that they’ve forgotten what it feels like to pay attention to themselves.

You don’t have to be a yogi. You don’t have to be flexible or particularly “spiritual.” And you certainly don’t have to show up as some polished version of yourself.

Come exactly from where you are.

My hope is that when you leave Guatemala, you feel stronger. Empowered. More aware of your body. More in tune with yourself. Maybe clearer about what you want—and what you don’t want.

Take the courage, the conversations, the laughter, the tears, and the connection with you. Let the experience remind you to listen to your body, challenge yourself when it feels right, slow down when you need to, and live with more intention.

And maybe, somewhere in the middle of all of it, you reconnect with that authentic version of yourself that’s been hiding inside—and bring a little more of that person home with you.

If this resonates and you’d like to slow down a bit with us, I’d love to have this time with you. ❤️

Please reach out to Olivia when you are ready.

✌🏻 ❤️

As most of you know, The Hair Fe**sh Salon stylists are now working independently of The Hair Fe**sh Salon as of 3/18. To schedule with anyone other than Kelly, you must contact your stylist directly. You can send a text to the salon at 847-735-0064 to get their contact information.

It looks like we should be opening the salon by June 1st; however, there will be restrictions, which we have yet to learn from the state board and the Phenix Salon Suites. Considering we work out of a small space, we will have to space out our scheduling in accordance with distancing guidelines. Until we get more details, we are holding off on scheduling anyone. We will be scheduling clients in the order that their appointments were cancelled and will not be accepting new clients at this time, to focus on maintaining our relationships with our established clients.

Please be patient as this is a very complicated process. We can’t wait to see all of your beautiful faces! We miss you all and appreciate all of your patience. Thanks so much for your calls and texts! We just wanted to send this out to let you guys know, we are thinking of you and can’t wait to see you! Xoxo
