DRILLS = SKILLS! 👏🔥

Rory is teaching us one of her favorite layout drills today!

She starts with a BHS on a panel mat, rebounds up and back onto the panel mat, focusing on:

✨ A strong block
✨ The snap and toe angle landing
✨ Driving the toes forward
✨ Keeping those legs straight

Layouts don’t just magically get better by throwing more layouts. 👏 Break the skill down, drill the positions, and then put it all back together.

Drills equal SKILLS! Every rep matters. 💪

Come take a walk with Penny and me while we do a little SCHAPE check-in. 🐾🧡

SCHAPE is the culture system we use in our cheer program, and while it gives us a common language as coaches and athletes, these are really qualities that apply way beyond cheer.

S — Spirit: What energy are you bringing into the room? Are you adding to your team or waiting for everyone else to create the energy?

C — Communication: Are you speaking up, listening, acknowledging corrections and communicating with the people around you?

H — Hustle: Do you move with purpose? When it’s time to work, are you READY to work?

A — Attitude: Who are you when you’re tired, corrected, frustrated or things don’t go your way? That’s when your attitude really shows.

P — Precision: Are you just getting the rep done—or are you disciplined enough to do it RIGHT? Every rep matters.

E — Enhancement: Engage and care. Did you make your team, your practice or the people around you better because you were there?

I love SCHAPE because we’re teaching these things through cheerleading, but we’re really teaching kids how to show up in life.

So here’s your SCHAPE check-in today:

Which one is your strength right now—and which one could use a little work? 👇

Through all the frustrations, the hard conversations, the early mornings, and the days I wonder if anything I’m saying is actually sinking in… I really, really love coaching.

This was 6AM practice on the football field before a halftime performance that night. And watching this back just makes me grateful.

I’m grateful I get to be a small part of these kids growing up. I get to challenge them, expect more from them, hold them accountable, celebrate them, and watch them slowly realize what they’re capable of.

Because I truly believe high expectations are a form of love.

Learning to show up when you’re tired. Learning to be prepared because other people are counting on you. Learning to take correction, work through frustration, be a good teammate, and keep going when something is hard—those lessons are so much bigger than cheerleading.

We’re obviously trying to build great cheerleaders, but more than anything, I hope we’re helping build really good humans.

And even on the frustrating days, I’m incredibly grateful I get to do this. 🧡

6AM practices and all.

Sometimes coaching means realizing the team needs to do better… and realizing I need to communicate better too. 🧡

Saturday left me frustrated, but frustration without clear expectations doesn’t help anyone grow. So today we reset.

Know your material. Be adaptable. Show up for your team. Watch your body language. Be coachable when things change. And understand that being a Top 3rd athlete isn’t just about how you perform—it’s how you respond when you’re challenged.

Good communication goes both ways, and now we all know the standard.

We learn. We adjust. We move forward. 🧡

Top 3rd. Every rep. Every sideline. Every game.

POV: It’s cheer picture day… 📸🧡

On a SUNDAY.
On the field. 😂

Because when you’re a cheer coach, I swear you’re at the school 24/7.

Practice, games, pictures, projects, “just running over there really quick”… at this point I should probably just get a room. 😂

But look how cute they are!!! 🧡📣

Roxie’s Diomidov made it to the sideline under the lights ✨🏈

Nothing better than taking a new stunt from “let’s try this…” to hitting it on Friday night. Roxie and her group make this one look GOOD. 🔥

The confidence. The body control. The finish. 👏🏼

Diomidov officially added to the sideline stunt rotation 🧡

One of our FAVORITE Skyridge sideline traditions 🚨😂

“Bad Boys” comes over the loudspeaker and our school officer knows EXACTLY what to do.

He hops in his imaginary police car and takes the entire student section on a WILD police chase. 🚔💨

He’s swerving, turning, slamming on the brakes—and the whole crowd follows along like one giant rollercoaster ride. 😂

The fact that he commits 100% every time makes it even better.

THIS is Friday night at Skyridge. 🧡🦅

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS HIT DIFFERENT. 🔥🏈

Here Comes the Boom 💥
A packed student section.
A KILLER sideline crew.
And a WIN over Corner Canyon. 🧡

The energy was unreal all night. Proud of these kids for bringing it from kickoff to the final whistle.

Skyridge came to PLAY. 🦅🔥

“Hey Chat, what’s a Diomidov?”

Today’s new stunt: the Diomidov. 👏

I’ve wanted to teach this one for YEARS, and this morning I decided these girls were ready.

We broke down the positions and timing—and within one practice, they were hitting it. Then they took it straight to the sideline before school. 🤯

Progression is built on strong foundations. When athletes are ready, new skills click.

Can’t wait to see this one under the lights tonight. 🧡

Diomidov unlocked. 🔓
