Can salicylic acid help with clogged follicles and ingrown hairs? 🔬
Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid (BHA) that works by exfoliating dead skin cells and helping loosen buildup inside the follicular opening.
🧬 Follicular Occlusion: Helps clear excess oil and dead skin cells that contribute to clogged follicles.
🔬 Ingrown Hairs: Helps reduce the buildup of dead skin cells that can trap hairs beneath the skin’s surface.
💧 Scalp Health: Can help manage excess oil, flaking, and buildup to support a healthier scalp environment.
⚠️ Salicylic acid isn’t a cure for every follicular condition, and overuse can cause irritation or dryness.
Healthy hair starts with understanding the scalp.
💬 Have you ever used salicylic acid in your scalp care routine?

🚨 OILY SCALP? You might be making it worse without realizing it. 👀

If your hair looks greasy just hours after washing, your routine could be part of the problem.

Here are 5 common mistakes to watch for: 👇

🧴 1. Over-Washing: Using harsh shampoos too frequently can irritate or dry out your scalp.

🚿 2. Hot Water: Excessive heat can disrupt your scalp’s protective barrier.

💧 3. Conditioner at the Roots: Heavy formulas can weigh hair down and make roots appear greasy.

✋ 4. Constantly Touching Your Hair: Your hands can transfer oils and residue onto your strands.

☁️ 5. Daily Dry Shampoo: Repeated use without proper cleansing can lead to product buildup.

🔬 Here’s what most people don’t realize: Sebum is essential for scalp health. The goal isn’t to eliminate oil. It’s to manage buildup, maintain a healthy scalp barrier, and find a cleansing routine that works for you.

And remember, oily scalps may actually benefit from frequent washing with the right shampoo!

🔬 4 Scalp Concerns. 4 Different Ingredients. But do they actually work? 👀

Your scalp is skin, and different scalp conditions require different approaches. Here’s what the science says! 👇

🧴 Salicylic Acid | Dandruff
Helps exfoliate the scalp, loosen stubborn flakes, and remove buildup. Often used alongside antifungal ingredients.

🦠 Piperonyl Butoxide | Head Lice
Enhances the effectiveness of certain lice treatments when combined with pyrethrins, helping target active infestations.

💊 2% Ketoconazole | Tinea Capitis
An antifungal ingredient that can help reduce fungal spores on the scalp. However, tinea capitis typically requires prescription oral antifungal medication for effective treatment.

🌿 Peppermint Oil | Scalp Inflammation
Known for its cooling sensation, peppermint oil may provide temporary comfort, but evidence for treating scalp inflammation is limited, and it can irritate sensitive skin.

⚠️ Here’s what most people overlook: Not every itchy, flaky, or irritated scalp has the same underlying cause. Using the wrong ingredient could delay proper treatment or make symptoms worse.

✨ Healthy hair starts with understanding your scalp.

Microneedling vs. Electroporation: What’s the difference? 🔬⚡

Both technologies are used in scalp treatments, but they work in completely different ways.

🔸 Microneedling uses tiny needles to create controlled microchannels in the skin, stimulating a natural wound-healing response and potentially enhancing topical absorption.

🔹 Electroporation uses controlled electrical pulses to temporarily increase skin permeability, allowing certain ingredients to pe*****te without needles.

💡 The key difference? One uses mechanical stimulation, while the other uses electrical energy to enhance permeability.

Both have potential applications in scalp care, but their effectiveness depends on the treatment, formulation, and proper technique.

What does a healthy scalp actually look and feel like? 🔬
A healthy scalp isn’t about having perfectly styled hair. It’s about what’s happening underneath it.
Here are 5 signs your scalp is in good shape:
✅ No Constant Itching: Occasional itching happens, but persistent irritation deserves attention.
✅ Minimal Flaking: Your scalp naturally sheds skin cells, but excessive visible flakes may signal an imbalance.
✅ Balanced Oil Production: Sebum protects your scalp. The goal isn’t to eliminate oil, it’s to maintain a healthy balance.
✅ Even Scalp Tone: Healthy scalp color varies with skin tone. Persistent redness or discoloration may indicate irritation or inflammation.
✅ No Tenderness: Brushing, washing, and touching your scalp shouldn’t regularly cause pain.
💡 Remember: Healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp. Understanding what’s normal helps you recognize when something needs attention.

Microneedling vs. Derma Stamping: What’s the difference? 🔬

Both techniques create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating the body’s natural repair response. But they’re not exactly the same.

🔬 Microneedling: Often performed with a motorized device that creates rapid, controlled microchannels in the scalp.

📍 Derma Stamping: A form of microneedling that uses a stamping motion to target specific areas of the scalp.

Both are being studied for their potential to support hair growth, particularly when combined with established hair loss treatments.

⚠️ Here’s what matters: Needle depth, technique, treatment frequency, and proper sanitation all influence safety and results. More aggressive treatment doesn’t necessarily mean better hair growth.

💡 Neither technique works for every type of hair loss, and improper use can cause irritation, infection, or scarring.

Which technique would you choose? 👇

Taking a GLP-1 and noticing more hair in the shower? 👀 Here’s something you need to know.

When you’re losing weight rapidly, it can become much harder to get enough protein, calories, and essential nutrients to support healthy hair growth.

🥩 Prioritize adequate protein
🥬 Make sure you’re getting essential nutrients
🐟 Include sources of omega-3 fatty acids
🩸 Pay attention to nutrients like iron
🥗 Don’t let weight loss come at the expense of balanced nutrition

Your hair follicles need a consistent supply of amino acids, vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats to support normal, healthy growth.

If you’re experiencing significant or persistent shedding, consider speaking with a qualified healthcare or trichology professional to better understand what may be contributing to it.

Bleach damage doesn’t always show up as obvious breakage right away. Sometimes the warning signs are already there long before the hair starts snapping. 👀

Watch for these 4 signs your lightener may have gone too far:

✨ Gummy when wet: the hair stretches excessively and struggles to return to its original shape, often signaling compromised internal structure.

✂️ Snaps mid-shaft: short broken pieces can point to structural weakness from repeated chemical processing or overlapping bleach.

🎨 Color won’t hold: toner or color fading unusually fast may indicate increased porosity and a cuticle that can no longer retain pigment effectively.

🌾 Straw-like texture: roughness, tangling and persistent dryness can happen when the hair fiber loses protective lipids and surface integrity.

If you’re seeing multiple signs at once, adding more lightener may only increase the damage. The goal should shift from getting lighter to protecting the integrity of the hair fiber.

Healthy-looking color starts with understanding the science of the hair itself.

Save this before your next color appointment and send it to someone who regularly bleaches their hair. 🧬

Your hair texture can change, and there’s usually a reason behind it. 👀

If your hair suddenly feels curlier, straighter, finer, drier, or more frizzy than it used to, changing products may not be the whole answer.

Several factors can influence the way your hair grows and behaves:

🧬 Hormonal changes during puberty, pregnancy, and menopause can influence hair characteristics over time.

⏳ Aging can lead to finer strands, reduced sebum production, and changes in how the hair feels and behaves.

🔥 Heat, bleach, and chemical damage can weaken the hair fiber, lift the cuticle, increase frizz, and alter the appearance of your natural texture.

🌀 Follicle shape plays a major role in texture. Rounder follicles tend to produce straighter strands, while more curved follicles are associated with waves and curls.

The key is figuring out whether the change is happening inside the follicle or along the hair fiber before assuming you just need a new shampoo.

Save this for the next time your hair suddenly feels “different,” and share it with someone who swears their texture changed overnight.

What changed first for you: curl pattern, dryness, frizz, or strand thickness? 👇
