Let’s talk about nanostrokes and realistic expectations.

This client wanted fuller, more structured brows that would compliment her face, but she still wanted them to look natural. Nanostrokes were a great choice because they mimic the look of individual brow hairs.

Nanostrokes are one of the more conservative forms of PMU, but they aren't for everyone. Your skin type, natural brow hair, skincare routine and previous PMU all matter when determining if you're a good candidate.

One thing I always want my clients to understand is this:

PMU is low maintenance, not no maintenance.

Your natural brow hairs will still need to be tweezed and groomed so we can actually see and showcase those beautiful strokes.

The pigment will also fade over time. That's normal and expected. i.e. Sun exposure, tanning, certain skincare products and exfoliating treatments can all contribute to faster fading. Once your brows are healed, protecting them from the sun and being mindful of what you use around them can help prolong your results.

I recommend checking in with your artist annually so they can evaluate your brows and determine when, or if, you're ready for a color boost.

And more pigment isn't always better. If the brows become overly saturated from repeated touch-ups, simply adding more pigment to correct the color may not hold or give you the result you're looking for. In some cases, laser or saline removal may be needed to remove some of that saturation before additional PMU can be considered.

Your skin also matters. Oily skin, previous PMU and how your individual skin retains pigment can all affect how well those delicate strokes hold. That's why nanostrokes aren't automatically the best choice for everyone.

Good PMU isn't about making your brows as dark or as full as possible. It's about creating brows that compliment your face, work with your natural hair and age well over time.

So remember: low maintenance, not no maintenance.
