Old school secrets for developing a wide expansive chest.🔥🔥 These guys will go heavy on the pec deck and the dumbbell fly. One really helpful modification is going with a bent arm variation on the fly known as the “fly press“. You can see Rich Gaspari doing these in this video . This is one way to get a similar stimulus if traditional fly’s irritate the shoulders. You can go heavy and lower rep, lighter, and higher rep, and everything in between. The only requisite stimulus is getting close to failure.
People always asking what’s it like to train over at my house? This clip just about says it all. You in?

Lateral raises without shoulder pain! Check out this killer shoulder variation from Joe DeFranco . If you suffer from shoulder/ bicep tendon pain in the front of the shoulder when doing traditional raises, flexing the elbow can alleviate discomfort, plus adding a light band can really spice it up!
Here is the Laymans explanation as to why overload is essential for adaptation. There’s no such thing as easy effective training. There has to be an element of exhaustion, intensity, and taking muscles to or beyond failure in some capacity. No, not every set needs to be as hard as possible, but every set should be contributing to building to an effective working set in which a muscle Can be stressed beyond its normal accustomed or comfortable capacity.
Arthur Jones was more than just a pioneer in bodybuilding—he was a mastermind who reshaped the way we think about training. His approach wasn’t based on tradition or arbitrary routines; it was based on logic, physiology, and real results.
Jones understood that muscle growth wasn’t about endless hours in the gym—it was about applying the right stimulus with maximum intensity and then allowing the body to recover. He introduced the concept of High-Intensity Training (HIT), proving that brief, focused workouts taken to failure were far superior to high-volume, marathon sessions. His revolutionary Nautilus machines were designed with this in mind, allowing for proper biomechanics and constant tension on the muscles, eliminating wasted effort and injury-prone techniques.
What made Arthur truly brilliant was his ability to cut through the nonsense. He didn’t just challenge the bodybuilding status quo—he obliterated it with science and reason. He proved that training smarter, not longer, was the key to maximum muscular development.
His influence on my Heavy Duty system was profound. I took his foundational principles of intensity, efficiency, and recovery and refined them into a structured philosophy that pushed the limits of human performance. Without Arthur Jones, bodybuilding would still be stuck in the dark ages of mindless volume training.
Jones wasn’t just a genius—he was a revolutionary. His legacy lives on in every intelligent trainee who values logic over outdated traditions. If you truly want to maximize your results, understand this: it’s not about how much you do—it’s about how intensely you do it. That’s the Jones philosophy. That’s Heavy Duty.
Motivation Monday. What get you more fired up than a juicy “Muscle Anarchy” chest pump?!
I’ve got an important meeting with a barbell. Block out your schedule to feel the steel. Make sure to nourish your inner “bro”.
Mondays are for epic leg days! It’s the hardest, most rewarding and brutal training day of the week, so we do it first!! If ya know ya know. Three reasons why muscle anarchy leg days need to be epic…
1) You have to expose yourself to unknown stressors that exhaust muscles beyond their current capacity to grow
2) Leg day, more so than any other body part involves the most musculature both in the upper and lower body. Your legs will grow on leg day, your back will grow from leg day, your traps will grow from leg day. A hard leg day is one of the most effective ways to turn on the anabolic signals in the body.
3) You grow when you rest. Muscle anarchy leg days occur once a week to allow for healing and remodeling of tissue as well as hormonal recovery. Because of that, each leg day must be performed at a high intensity. You earn your recovery time by smashing your stems.
