Next Gen Leadership Academy didn’t start because we thought the world needed another leadership program.

It started with a conversation.

A local business leader was thinking about succession. He had good people—people who knew the work, understood the industry, and had proven themselves. But preparing someone to step into leadership requires something different.

Because being great at your job doesn’t automatically teach you how to lead people.

That conversation helped shape Next Gen Leadership Academy – Built to Lead: practical development focused on communication, confidence, accountability, resilience, people management, and leading well.

Whether you’re preparing your next leader or becoming one yourself, you don’t have to carry it all alone.

Strong organizations don’t depend on one great leader. They prepare the next generation of leaders to grow, work together, and help the whole team move forward.

If your company has two or more supervisors, the Next Gen Leadership Academy may be a good way to invest in the people who are already guiding your team.

Who on your team is ready for their next leadership step? Send us a message to learn more.

The next generation of leaders is already in our workplaces.

The question is: Are we giving them opportunities to grow?

The Next Gen Leadership Academy (NGLA) is designed to help emerging leaders build the skills, confidence, and real-world experience they need to take their next step.

For employers and established leaders, this is also an opportunity to invest in the future of our workforce. Developing people doesn’t just prepare someone for their next position—it strengthens teams, creates stronger leadership pipelines, and helps valuable employees see a future for themselves within their organization.

NGLA brings together leadership development, mentorship, practical learning, and connections with professionals who understand what it takes to lead well.

Whether you have an emerging leader on your team, want to support the development of young professionals, or are interested in partnering with NGLA, there is a place for you to be part of what we’re building.

The future of leadership isn’t somewhere down the road. It’s already here. Let’s invest in it.

A note about the Rise And Thrive from last week:

What a wonderful morning of connection, reflection, and investing in ourselves at Rise & Thrive!

A heartfelt thank you to our panelists, Shelley Davis Boyd and Nikki Thompson, for sharing your experiences, perspectives, and wisdom with us. Your willingness to have honest conversations and pour into others helped make the morning meaningful.

We’re also incredibly grateful for our partnership with Leah and for the opportunity to support The Nest. Rise & Thrive has always been about more than gathering in a room—it’s about creating space for women to connect, grow, learn from one another, and strengthen the community around us.

And to every person who attended: thank you for choosing to invest in yourself. Taking time away from the demands of work and life to learn, reflect, and build relationships matters, and we’re grateful you chose to spend that time with us.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Rise & Thrive gatherings possible. We’re already looking ahead to what’s next.

Stay tuned—the 2027 Rise & Thrive schedule is coming soon!

Today’s Christian Business Round Table conversation was a great reminder that leadership and relationships can’t become automated.

As technology and AI continue to change the way we work, we talked about the importance of keeping people at the center—building trust through personal connection, transparency, authenticity, and intentional relationships.

One question I’m taking with me from today: **Are we using technology to help us nurture relationships, or allowing it to replace them?**

Leadership still requires us to know people, steward relationships well, and be intentional about how we show up.

**And a reminder: our DeWitt Christian Business Round Table meets next Wednesday, September 23, from 8–9 AM. We’d love to have you join the conversation!**

Who on your team has the potential to become a great leader?

Maybe it is the employee who already takes initiative, the crew member others trust, or the person you could see eventually supervising a team or helping carry more responsibility in the business.

The Next Gen Leadership Academy is designed to help businesses develop those emerging leaders with practical skills in communication, accountability, decision-making, managing people and understanding the bigger picture of the business.

For business owners, especially in construction, skilled trades, manufacturing and field-based industries, investing in the next generation of leadership is also an investment in a stronger and more stable team.

The Academy will be held October 29–30 and November 3 in Lansing.
