Erykah Badu's outfit at the Billboard Women in Music 2025 event has gone viral, and of course, there are men and other immature individuals focusing on the superficial comments about BBLs, etc. So, I'd like to take a moment to educate.

Badu's look was inspired by the Venus of Willendorf statue, a symbol of fertility and motherhood. The exaggerated features of the statue represent the power and beauty of women's bodies. As a doula, Badu is passionate about supporting women during childbirth and beyond. In fact, she's even assisted celebrities like Summer Walker and Teyana Taylor during their labors.

Her outfit is more than just a fashion statement - it's a celebration of femininity, fertility, and motherhood. But what's striking is how some men reacted to it. They saw it as an invitation to objectify and sexualize Badu's body, rather than understanding the deeper meaning behind her outfit.

This reaction says a lot about how alot of men view women's bodies. Men are often taught to see women's bodies as objects of desire, rather than as powerful symbols of fertility, creativity, and life.

They would never even consider that Badu was mocking anything that celebrates the beauty and power of women's bodies, without objectifying or sexualizing them.

I'm at the end of my 40s and it's been quite a ride. Despite all the things that life has thrown at me, the 40s has been my favorite decade of my journey. I found myself and continue to shed the layers of colonization and indoctrination.
