I’ll be honest!

I was very against extensions of any kind for YEARS after I experienced a TON of hair loss from having hand tied extensions for 7ish months.

I didn’t want to learn how to do them, I steered all clients away from them, and I honestly was even annoyed to see them on ig.

BUT EDICATION MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE!

I found an educator who goes above and beyond when it comes to teaching about ALL the aspects of the service and lifestyle that comes with extensions.

One of the first things I learned was how much my hair loss from extensions were MY OWN DOING!

As a stylist, it showed me that it’s just as important that I teach my clients how to handle their extensions at home, as it is that I do a quality install.

My experience with extensions was due to too tight of an install, causing a ton of tension breakage, and me being really rough on my hair at home…

Even though I was a stylist myself, I’d never worked with extensions or learned anything about them so I had NO CLUE I needed to treat my hair differently daily with them in. That’s on the stylist to educate their clients.

So now as I begin this extension journey, I make sure to do secure, not overly tight installs, AND I send every client home with a full home care guide.

I go through it with the client when they’re in, but it’s on the client to reference it at home and keep up healthy home care maintenance to support a healthy extension experience.

Communication is everything and effort needs to be put in on both sides, but my mind has been swayed after learned more!

I’ve learned that extensions, when done correctly, can actually protect the natural hair, helping it grow in longer and fuller!

I’ve also seen how absolutely life changing they can be for clients. How amazing they feel having full long thick luscious locks after years of hair loss, thinning, glp1 hair loss, different texture after cancer treatments,or just naturally thin/fine hair.

That’s my favorite part.

I’ve always loved creating beautiful heads of hair with color to help my clients walk a little taller, smile a little brighter… but this feels like the next level!!
