💚 LET'S TALK LYMPH NODES!

Hundreds of lymph nodes. Dozens of regions. One incredible interconnected system!

We spend so much time talking about lymphatic drainage, but how much do we really know about the lymph nodes themselves?

We hear about the cervical nodes in the neck, the axillary nodes in the armpits, and the inguinal nodes in the groin.

But what about all the others?

Did you know that the human body typically contains approximately 600–700 lymph nodes, although the number varies considerably from person to person?

And they're not all located where you might expect!

Some are superficial and relatively easy to palpate. Others are located deep within the chest, abdomen, and pelvis, surrounding major blood vessels and organs.

💚 SO, WHAT DO LYMPH NODES ACTUALLY DO?

Lymph nodes are much more than little filtering stations!

They are highly organized immune structures that:

🔹 Filter lymph and help capture foreign material.

🔹 Provide meeting places for immune cells to recognize potential threats.

🔹 Support the activation and coordination of immune responses.

🔹 Help monitor what's happening in the tissues throughout our bodies.

And here's something interesting...

Not every lymphatic vessel passes through the lymph nodes we commonly learn about in basic MLD education!

Some regions have smaller, lesser-known lymph node groups. Others have alternative drainage pathways that may bypass certain nodes entirely.

Understanding these connections is particularly important when discussing lymphedema, lipedema, surgery, inflammation, and lymphatic dysfunction.

🌸 INTRODUCING OUR NEW SERIES: THE LESSER-KNOWN LYMPH NODES!

Starting tomorrow, we're going on an anatomical journey to explore the lymph nodes throughout the body.

We'll look at:

✨ Where different lymph node groups are located.

✨ Which tissues and regions actually drain into them.

✨ Where lymph travels after leaving those nodes.

✨ How superficial and deep lymphatic drainage differ.

✨ Common misconceptions about lymph node function and drainage pathways.

✨ Why these anatomical relationships matter in clinical practice.

We'll also explore some fascinating alternative pathways that don't always receive the attention they deserve.

Because understanding lymphatic drainage means understanding more than where the lymph nodes are located. We need to know how the entire system connects!

Whether you're a therapist, someone living with lymphedema or lipedema, or simply fascinated by the human body, I hope you'll follow along.

💬 LET'S START WITH A QUESTION!

When you think about lymph nodes, which area of the body comes to mind first?

The neck? The armpits? The groin?

Or have you ever wondered about those lesser-known nodes behind the knee or near the elbow?

Share your thoughts below!

💚 Anatomy Matters. Let's keep learning together!

👣 Grounded From the Start 🌿

There is something powerful about bare feet touching the earth.

As adults, we often seek ways to reconnect with ourselves—to slow down, breathe deeper, and find balance. Yet grounding is something we’re naturally drawn to from the very beginning. Watching little feet explore grass, soil, and nature reminds us that connection to the earth is one of our oldest forms of wellness.

Grounding, or simply spending time barefoot on natural surfaces, encourages us to be present. It invites us to step away from the noise, reconnect with our bodies, and embrace the healing rhythm of nature.

Today, take a moment to follow the example of these tiny feet:
✨ Feel the grass beneath you.
✨ Take a few deep breaths.
✨ Slow down and be fully present.
✨ Remember that wellness doesn’t always require doing more—sometimes it starts with simply being connected.

No matter your age, it’s never too early or too late to nurture a grounded spirit. 🌱

💕 Sometimes the smallest feet leave the biggest reminders.
