Andi breaks down why we pre-color lightened hair with warm tones first. When hair has been lightened, some of its natural underlying pigment has been removed. We need to replace that missing warmth before adding your desired darker shade so the color can look rich, balanced, and natural.

And the good news? Pre-coloring and going darker isn’t damaging to your hair. 🙌

But here’s where things can get tricky: if you go light → dark → light again, we’re asking your hair to go through multiple chemical processes. That can create a challenge for the integrity of the hair and may affect how safely we can achieve your next lighter look.
