The games are not what wreck a season. The 48 hours between them are.
Friday night, Saturday tournament, Sunday showcase, Monday practice. Nothing in there is an injury. It is just load, stacked on tissue that never got a chance to reset, until one day a hamstring goes on an ordinary sprint and everyone calls it bad luck.
Jason's work is for that gap. Body tempering is heavy, sustained pressure rolled through whatever took the most volume that week — quads after a soccer weekend, lats after throwing, calves after a meet. It is not a massage and it is not gentle. Athletes feel the difference walking out, which is the only reason teenagers come back for anything.
He has three kids of his own in five different sports. He is not guessing at the schedule.

Thirty years at the adjusting table taught Dr. Jeremy one thing above everything else:
people underestimate what a body can do when it is working the way it is supposed to.
That is the whole argument for starting here. Every thing we do lands better on a body that is lined up. Work on a crooked frame and you are just chasing the sore spot around.
With a growing athlete there is a second reason. They change shape every few months. The hip that was fine in June is not the same hip in October, and the asymmetry nobody noticed is usually the thing that eventually gives.
He is looking for that. Not just where it hurts.

That's me, Dr. Jeremy, Katy and Jason — and between the all of our families, we have eight kids across seven sports.
Esther on the volleyball court and Leo on the rugby pitch for me. Jason's three between baseball, lacrosse, mountain biking, track and football. Katy's three sons, all baseball.
Which means when your athlete comes in here limping on a Tuesday, nobody needs club season explained to them. We've sat in the same folding chair. We've driven to the same 6am tournament. We've watched a kid get up slowly and had to decide, from the stands, whether that was nothing.
That's what Same Sideline means. We're not watching your season from across the field. Ours is running at the same time.
And it's why we're doing this.
For the next six weeks we're going sport by sport — For each one, three things. The injuries we actually see most. What helps you stay ahead of them. And what coming back looks like once they're cleared.
One a day, starting tomorrow. Save the one for your athlete's sport. Send it to the parent in your group chat who needs it more than you do.
If your athlete is hurt, get them evaluated first.

You've met us one at a time this week. Here we are together — Sara, Esther, Leo and me.
And it isn't only my family. The KLC family has athletes in it too, being raised by the same people who help your body heal and stay strong. Katy has three sons, all baseball players. Jason's three kids play baseball, lacrosse, track and football, and ride mountain bikes. Between us, we've stood on a lot of sidelines.
Next week we're talking about that. What to do when your kid goes down, how to help keep them from going down, and why we take it personally.
Thank you for trusting our family with yours. 💙

Meet our son, Leo.
Off the pitch, he is an exceptionally well-rounded human. He has carried himself like a man for years already. He turns 18 soon which will make it official.
He first tried rugby at six. Then came years of football, with a season of baseball and — like his sister — a stint at the bowling alley along the way. In his early high school years he played football and rugby in tandem, and rugby is the one that stuck.
Now he plays at school up in British Columbia. No pads. No timeouts. A lot of tackles.
Which means I've spent a good part of the last few years doing something a lot of you know well: watching a match from far away, then waiting for the text afterward that says I'm fine.
I've adjusted athletes for 30 years. It doesn't make that wait any shorter. 💙

Meet our daughter, Esther.
When they told us at the ultrasound it was ballet shoes, I cried.
She has been a force of femininity from day one, and she fills the world with her light and her wit everywhere she goes. Any creative project she touches, she turns to gold.
She plays volleyball. Before that came dance, soccer, basketball, badminton and a stint at the bowling alley. Volleyball is the one that stuck.
She's also the most artistic person in this family by a wide margin. Any creative project she touches, she turns to gold.
Some of you have met her at the clinic. She helps out when we need her.
As a chiropractor, I watch volleyball differently than most parents. As her dad, I just watch her. 💙

Last week we mentioned someone who walked through our door in 2003 and never really left.
Her sister referred her to Dr. Deborah as a patient. Dr. Deborah hired her almost as fast.
Then I spent a few years giving her dating advice. Mostly some version of "he's just not that into you."
Eventually I worked out the obvious solution and asked her out myself.
Married since 2007. She worked through both pregnancies, and she has stood beside me building everything you see now.
If you've been coming here a while, you already know Sara. For 23 years a lot of you have come in to see me and stayed to talk to her.
My name's on the paperwork. Hers is on a lot of your hearts. 💙

You've seen the photo from last week. The young guy under the sign around 2000, next to Dr. Ted and Dr. Deborah? That's me.
Nobody on that sidewalk knew I'd end up owning the place. Least of all me.
I got into this because of headaches. I used to get bad ones, the kind that took weeks to let go. Then I got adjusted for the first time, and mine was gone that day. It didn't come back.
That's the whole reason I do this. Not to fix people — to get them enjoying their lives again, and keep them well adjusted enough to stay there.
Thirty years at the table, athletes to newborns, have taught me one thing above all. People severely underestimate what a body can do when it's working the way it's meant to.
This week you'll meet the rest of my family. 💙
