🚶‍♀️Can I safely walk down this block solo this time of night? 😱If I have to scream for help here will anyone hear me? 🚊Will I be ok if I choose a seat in this train carriage traveling alone? I reckon I was 13 when I started risk assessing. It’s unconscious at this point. Is someone watching my drink? Did I text the cab number plate to someone? Is he following me…or just walking home? (What did I miss??) I needed to call 911 the other day in the subway. But picking up my phone and talking would have meant me & others were put in more danger. So I tried texting to see if it worked…. It DID. 😱 So PSA if you ever need 911 in NYC, texting works. It (sadly) does NOT work everywhere in the USA. About 60% of emergency centres have text capacity. But worth checking online to see if your area has coverage. Always call when you can (they prefer that) but good to have the option. Tag someone who needs to hear this ⬇️ 04/21/2026
