This moment meant more to me than I can explain. 🥹
A few days ago, I walked into a career expo representing Beautistry Makeup Academy and found myself standing alongside universities, colleges, trade schools, and career programs.
And for a moment, I just looked around and took it all in.
Because I wasn’t there representing an institution I had joined.
I was there representing something I built. 😭🤍
Throughout the event, people from other schools and organizations would stop at my booth, hear about the academy, and ask me questions. And when they realized that I had actually built Beautistry Makeup Academy myself, their reactions meant so much to me.
“Wait… this is YOUR academy?”
They congratulated me. They told me how incredible it was that I had created this and was standing there representing something of my own.
I don’t think they realized how deeply those words hit me.
Because 15 years ago, I was simply a girl who loved doing makeup.
I heard that makeup wasn’t a “real career.” That I needed to find a real job. That there wasn’t much of a future in this.
And now I was standing in a room filled with educational institutions and career opportunities, representing the academy that grew from the very thing I was once told wouldn’t take me anywhere. 🥹
Not because my path is better than college.
Not because everyone should choose this path.
But because there is room at the table for different paths.
There may have been a student walking through that room who loves makeup the way I did, but has been told they need to choose something more “real.”
I hope seeing Beautistry Makeup Academy there showed them that artistry CAN become a profession.
You can learn the science.
You can master the artistry.
You can understand the business.
You can build a career.
And maybe one day, you can even build something of your own. 🤍
Sometimes the thing people tell you will never take you anywhere becomes the very thing that gives you a seat at the table.
15 years later… I’m really grateful I kept going. 🥹

Sometimes the thing that hurts your feelings is the same thing that pushes you into your next season.
Not every setback is a sign to stop.
Not every criticism deserves the power to make you question yourself.
And not every person who tries to dim your light gets to decide what happens next.
Sometimes their words become fuel.
Sometimes the closed door redirects you.
Sometimes the moment you thought would embarrass you ends up introducing you to people who were meant to find you.
So if you’re in a season where something feels unfair, discouraging, or personal… keep going.
You may not be able to see it yet, but this could be the very moment that pushes you to show up louder, believe in yourself deeper, and step into opportunities you never would have reached otherwise.
Don’t let one person’s opinion become the reason you quit.
Let it remind you why you started. 🤍
What was meant to discourage you might just become part of your testimony.
