With its deep, earthy exterior and naturally vibrant color within, alkanet root is a beautiful example of how nature can bring both function and artistry to a formulation.

Traditionally used as a botanical colorant, alkanet root releases rich shades of rose, berry, burgundy, and w**e when infused into oil—making it a beautiful plant-derived way to add color to lip care.

Beyond its color, alkanet root has a long history of traditional topical use and contains naturally occurring plant compounds with antioxidant properties. In our formulations, however, we especially love it for the gorgeous botanical tint it can impart while complementing the nourishing oils and butters surrounding it.

Soon, this beautiful root will be lending its color to something new at Cure La Vie… tinted lip balms. 🤍
