Perioral dermatitis (POD) is a chronic inflammatory facial rash, most commonly around the mouth, nose, and sometimes eyes. The exact cause isn’t fully understood. Skin-barrier disruption and irritation appear to play a role.

A quick disclaimer: I am a licensed esthetician, not a dermatologist, and I do not diagnose medical skin conditions. I am, however, professionally trained to recognize common skin conditions and adjust treatments and skincare recommendations accordingly.

I also intentionally keep some of my educational content in simple, client-friendly language. The goal is to make skincare easier to understand, not to oversimplify the science or speak outside my scope of practice.
