Jade’s Babes

NICU Awareness Month 🤍

Before becoming a doula, I was a NICU baby myself!

I was born at 33 weeks in November 1988 and spent my first two weeks in the NICU.

As doulas, we spend so much time preparing families for birth and postpartum — but sometimes the path looks very different than anyone planned. A NICU stay can bring a whole new set of emotions, questions, decisions, and needs.

That’s why I recently completed NICU doula training through The NICU Translator. I wanted to better understand the NICU world and learn how I can support the whole family if one of my clients ever finds themselves there.

Not to replace the medical team.
Not to provide medical advice.
But to offer another steady, informed, supportive presence.

Because if a family I’m serving ever needs NICU support, I want to be ready to meet them there. 🤍

I’m grateful for the education and perspective I gained through The NICU Translator, founded by NICU nurse, doula, and educator Mary Farrelly.

If you’re a doula or perinatal professional who wants to become more NICU-informed, I highly recommended their course!

For every baby who spends time in the NICU, there is a family learning how to navigate a world they never expected to enter. They deserve support, too. 🤍

After having my third postpartum experience this year, I kept coming back to how hard it can be for moms to stay fed in those early postpartum weeks. So I decided to begin offering postpartum nourishment support through Jade’s Babes focused on practical, intentional care during that season.

Each meal, snack, and drink is thoughtfully prepared with postpartum healing in mind — focusing on warmth, nutrient density, hydration, and foods that help support recovery during those early weeks after birth.

I thought Mother’s Day would be the perfect opportunity to bless one mama with a week of care and support 🤍

Winner will be announced on Mother’s Day.

Limited to local delivery area.
