* Food-stamp work rules: Georgia says adults ages 60–64 who are able to work and don’t qualify for an exemption became subject to SNAP’s time-limit work rules on October 1, 2026. Generally, that means 80 hours a month of work or qualifying activities, or benefits may be limited to three months in a three-year period. Exemptions apply, including for people unable to work because of health conditions.
* Food-stamp amounts and income limits: The annual update also took effect October 1. This is a routine adjustment; it does not mean everybody’s food stamps are being cut. Your amount depends on your household’s circumstances.
* Medicaid immigration rules: Starting October 1, 2026, federal changes restrict full Medicaid eligibility for certain noncitizens. This is not a blanket cancellation of Medicaid.
* Medicaid work requirements: New federal requirements for certain adults generally begin January 1, 2027, although states can start earlier. Disability, medical frailty, pregnancy, and certain caregiving responsibilities can qualify someone for an exemption.
