We’re not talking about the weather around here.
The bang effect is real!! But it doesn’t work for everyone!!
• First rule is no bangs if you have a small forehead! 3 finger foreheads are out!!
• Second your hair line matters!! If you’ve go strong cowlicks they’ll probably never lay the way you want.
• Third you need some length from your eyes to your chin. If not it will make either blocky and off balance.
• Fourth bangs are a lot of work!! If you want low maintenance stay away!!! I shampoo and round brush my bangs daily! I also round brush them again when I get to work because just going outside and to my car messes them up. Oklahoma humidity it is real! I always tell everyone my bangs look good bc I stand next to hot tools all day!

Salons can very quickly feel overstimulating. There’s 15 conversations going on at once, blow drying, shampooing and people going in and out.
Sometimes what you expected to be a relaxing experience just isn’t.
But here it’s different. I’m in a private space where my guest and I get to be one on one. There’s two big windows that let in natural light, a bird feeder and plants cleaning the air and setting the vibe.
Here your experience can be whatever you want it to be that day. Conversation, silence, work meetings or just chilling with a Diet Coke in hand.
Come as you are and make it your own.

We’re obsessed with seasonal color theory over here, so when you get a bunch of hairstylists and color analysts together, you’ll probably get a whole lot of back and forth.
The thing is, more than the colors, the tones are what matter most. Tone is what’s going to give you balance, create harmony, and make you pop! Spring and Autumn are warm sisters, while Winter and Summer are cool sisters.
Someone who is naturally warm will always look off in cool tones, and vice versa.
Knowing which one you are will be one of the best things you ever do for yourself.

I’ve been stepping into living my life in gratitude. Reminding myself to not focus on where I think I should be or what I think I need to have but instead remembering all that I do have.
I think that’s so hard so many of us because we’re basically trained to be consumers.
Consumers of stuff, of social media, of the news. Which always leads us to focus on what more we need instead of what we already have.
So here I am trying to retrain my brain to walk in gratitude instead of need because the truth is I’ve always had everything I need and more.
When you have a long standing relationship with a stylist you don’t have to have a plan for what to do with your hair.
Amanda lets me do my thing and I’ve been doing her hair so long I know what she likes and what she doesn’t.
She likes a money piece but a soft one that doesn’t look like a big chunk. She likes layers and face framing (she absolutely does not want a one length blunt cut) sometimes when it’s cooler out we do a curtain bang. She’s an Autumn so we keep a little warmth to her highlights and stay completely away from icy tones.
She has pretty dark hair naturally and she likes to be blonde so I’m able to place her color in a way that keeps her blonde and allows her natural color to grow out softly so we can go 12-14 weeks between appointments and not feel like she has a root line staring back at her the whole time.
Also the Hickory House is a local diner in our hometown of Cleveland, Ok. They have the best chicken fried chicken, salad bar and cheeseburgers and they owner is the most beautiful woman you’ll ever see. She’s been on TikTok lately and I can’t believe how beautiful she still is.
