✨ SHOCKWAVE THERAPY — WHEN YOUR BODY NEEDS AN EXTRA PUSH TO HEAL ✨

At Netherine Physical Therapy, Pelvic Floor and Wellness, PC, we believe your treatment should be individualized to what your body needs.

That’s why Shockwave Therapy may be incorporated into your physical therapy treatment when clinically appropriate — with NO additional charge. ❤️

Shockwave therapy may be used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan to help address certain painful or stubborn conditions and support the body’s healing process.

💥 Why might we use shockwave therapy?
• Help manage pain
• Support tissue healing
• Address areas of persistent tissue irritation
• Improve local circulation and tissue response
• Complement hands-on therapy and therapeutic exercise

Your treatment is never “one size fits all.” We evaluate your movement, symptoms, strength, alignment, and overall function to determine which techniques may be appropriate for you.

If shockwave therapy can benefit your rehabilitation, we may include it as part of your PT session — at no additional cost.

🤸‍♀️ HYpermobility: When “Being Flexible” Isn’t the Whole Story

Are you constantly dealing with tightness, aching, or pain—even though you’re actually very flexible?

Hypermobility can affect much more than your joints. For some people, it may be associated with:

🔹 Pelvic floor dysfunction
🔹 Low back, mid-back & neck pain
🔹 Pain in multiple areas of the body
🔹 Frequent strains, sprains, or injuries
🔹 Persistent muscle tightness
🔹 Fatigue from constant muscular compensation
🔹 POTS and symptoms of autonomic dysfunction
🔹 Poor joint stability and difficulty maintaining alignment

But why can someone who is “too flexible” feel so tight?

When joints have more movement than the body can efficiently control, the muscles may work overtime to create stability. Over time, this can contribute to protective muscle tension, altered movement patterns, fatigue, and persistent discomfort.

That’s why simply stretching a “tight” muscle may not always address the underlying problem.

💡 The goal isn’t necessarily to become more flexible. The goal is to improve stability, coordination, strength, breathing, posture, and whole-body movement.

At Netherine Physical Therapy, Pelvic Floor & Wellness, we look at the body as a connected system and develop individualized treatment based on your specific movement patterns and needs.

✨ You don’t have to keep chasing the tight spot. Let’s look at WHY your body is working so hard to stabilize.

🌿 WHY PROPER REHABILITATION MATTERS — AND WHY IT SHOULD BE INDIVIDUALIZED

At Netherine Physical Therapy, Pelvic Floor and Wellness, PC, we believe rehabilitation is about more than treating the area that hurts.

Your body is connected. Your movement is connected. Your alignment is connected.

When an injury is not properly rehabilitated, the body may adapt by finding alternative ways to move and function. These compensatory movement patterns can affect strength, mobility, balance, alignment, and posture — sometimes creating problems far away from the original injury.

Pain is not always coming from where the problem started.

✨ THE BODY COMPENSATES DIFFERENTLY IN EVERY PERSON.

Let me share two clinical scenarios that demonstrate why individualized rehabilitation matters.

🦵 SCENARIO 1: AN OLD KNEE INJURY — YEARS LATER, SHOULDER AND NECK PAIN

A patient had a history of Osgood-Schlatter disease of the knee following an injury at 10 years old. Fifteen years later, the patient developed shoulder and neck pain that affected sports activities.

The patient demonstrated a pattern of reduced weight acceptance through the painful knee, limited knee mobility, weakness throughout the lower extremity and pelvic stabilizers, and compensatory changes in pelvic and trunk alignment.

These movement adaptations were associated with:

🔹 Altered pelvic positioning
🔹 Trunk side-bending
🔹 Changes in spinal curvature and thoracic rotation
🔹 Shoulder blade positioning changes
🔹 Compensatory head and neck positioning

The patient’s complaint? Shoulder pain.

The important lesson: An area of pain may be influenced by movement impairments elsewhere in the body.

💪 SCENARIO 2: AN OLD HAMSTRING INJURY — NOW LOW BACK, SI AND SHOULDER PAIN

A patient had an old hamstring pull injury that was never properly rehabilitated.

Over time, the patient developed altered weight acceptance through the injured leg, lower-extremity weakness, and changes in foot and pelvic mechanics.

The patient also demonstrated compensatory changes in spinal alignment and trunk positioning.

Current complaints included:

🔹 Low back pain
🔹 Bilateral SI joint region pain
🔹 Right shoulder pain

The original injury was in the hamstring — but the symptoms were no longer limited to the hamstring.

⚠️ WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN?

The body is constantly trying to find a way to move, function, and protect itself.

When an area is painful, weak, restricted, or poorly controlled, the body may develop alternative movement strategies.

Over time, these strategies may become habitual and contribute to:

• Muscle imbalances
• Limited joint mobility
• Altered weight distribution
• Poor postural control
• Compensatory movement patterns
• Pain in other regions

However, every person compensates differently. There is no single pattern that applies to everyone.

🌿 WHY INDIVIDUALIZED REHABILITATION IS IMPORTANT

Two people can have the same diagnosis but completely different:

✅ Strength deficits
✅ Mobility restrictions
✅ Alignment and posture
✅ Movement patterns
✅ Balance and coordination
✅ Pain responses
✅ Functional goals

That is why rehabilitation should never be a one-size-fits-all approach.

At Netherine Physical Therapy, we look beyond the painful area and consider how the body works as a whole.

Our goal is to identify contributing movement impairments, restore mobility, improve strength and stability, and help you move with greater confidence and efficiency.

Proper rehabilitation is not just about getting out of pain.

It is about understanding your body, addressing individual needs, and helping you return to the activities you love.

✨ Your body is connected. Your rehabilitation should be, too.

✨ ALIGN YOUR BODY. RESTORE YOUR MOVEMENT. RECLAIM YOUR CONFIDENCE. ✨

Your body is connected in 3D — your rehabilitation should be, too!

At Netherine Physical Therapy, Pelvic Floor and Wellness, PC, we believe true rehabilitation goes beyond treating one painful area. Your posture, alignment, breathing, core, pelvis, and movement patterns all work together.

🧍‍♀️ 3D Body Alignment & Postural Correction

Your body moves in three dimensions — forward and backward, side to side, and rotationally. When alignment and movement patterns are not working together, it can contribute to discomfort, muscle tension, and movement limitations.

Our personalized physical therapy approach focuses on helping you:

✨ Improve posture and whole-body alignment
✨ Restore balance and coordinated movement
✨ Improve core and pelvic stability
✨ Address muscle imbalances and movement compensations
✨ Reduce pain and improve body awareness
✨ Move with greater strength, confidence, and ease

💜 Your body is a whole system. Let’s help it work together.

Whether you’re recovering from an injury, experiencing pelvic floor concerns, navigating pregnancy or postpartum recovery, or simply wanting to move better, your care is tailored to your individual needs.

Why Proper Breathing Matters in Pelvic Floor Therapy 🌬️💙

Did you know that the way you breathe can directly affect how your pelvic floor functions?

Your diaphragm and pelvic floor work together like a team. When breathing patterns are restricted, shallow, or poorly coordinated, it can contribute to excessive pelvic floor tension and difficulty relaxing when your body needs to.

At Netherine’s Physical Therapy, Pelvic Floor & Wellness, we use breathing strategies to help patients improve coordination, relaxation, pressure management, and pelvic floor function.

Proper breathing may be an important part of treatment for conditions such as:

• Constipation and difficulty emptying
• Inguinal hernia
• Testicular or pe**le pain
• Vaginismus
• F***l impaction
• Pelvic organ prolapse
Diastasis
• Pelvic floor muscle tension and dysfunction

💡 The goal isn’t simply to “take deeper breaths.” It’s learning how to coordinate your breathing with your pelvic floor so your muscles can relax, contract, and manage pressure appropriately.

Your pelvic floor doesn’t work alone—your breathing, abdominal muscles, posture, and pelvic floor all work together.

If you’re experiencing pelvic, abdominal, bowel, or sexual symptoms, pelvic floor physical therapy may help identify contributing movement and muscle patterns and develop an individualized treatment plan.

🌿 Breathe. Relax. Reconnect. Restore.

At Netherine’s Physical Therapy, Pelvic Floor & Wellness P.C., we believe effective physical therapy starts with looking at the whole picture—not just the area where you feel pain.

Your body is connected. That’s why our assessment may look at everything from the outside skin and superficial tissues, to fascia, muscles, and joints to understand how each layer may be contributing to your symptoms.

✨ Skin & superficial tissues — changes in mobility, sensitivity, scars, or tissue quality can affect movement and comfort.
✨ Fascia — restrictions or tension can influence how forces move through the body.
✨ Muscles — strength, coordination, tension, and endurance all matter.
✨ Joints — mobility and alignment can impact how the entire system functions.

Rather than treating symptoms in isolation, we work to identify the connections and contributing factors so your treatment can be more individualized and meaningful.

Because sometimes the key to feeling better isn’t only where it hurts—it’s understanding what is happening throughout the layers and systems of your body. 💜

Why Comprehensible Assessment Matters in Physical Therapy Dry Needling 💜

At Netherine’s Physical Therapy, Pelvic Floor and Wellness P.C., we believe effective care begins with truly understanding you—your symptoms, your goals, your movement patterns, and what your body is communicating.

A comprehensive, easy-to-understand assessment helps us identify contributing factors rather than simply treating the symptoms. When you understand what is happening in your body and why we recommend certain treatments, you become an active partner in your recovery.

Dry needling can be one valuable tool within an individualized physical therapy plan. By targeting specific muscles and trigger points, it may help reduce muscle tension and pain, improve mobility, and support better movement when clinically appropriate.

✨ Assessment first. Treatment with purpose. Education every step of the way.

Whether you are seeking pelvic floor therapy, relief from pain, improved mobility, or overall wellness, our goal is to provide compassionate, personalized care that makes sense to you.

Why We Specialize in PSE Schroth

At Netherine’s Physical Therapy, we believe scoliosis care should go beyond simply strengthening the muscles around a curved spine.

When the spine is already misaligned, exercising with poor alignment or loading the spine incorrectly can reinforce faulty movement patterns. With scoliosis, the vertebrae can also rotate, particularly around the apex of the curve. Adding resistance without first addressing alignment, breathing, posture, and movement strategy may place unnecessary stress on the spine.

That’s why we specialize in PSE Schroth-based therapy. 🌀

The Schroth approach focuses on three-dimensional correction of the spine, helping patients learn how to:
✨ Improve postural alignment
✨ De-rotate the spine
✨ Use corrective breathing techniques
✨ Build strength while maintaining better alignment
✨ Move and exercise with greater awareness and control

Our goal isn’t to tell you not to exercise—it’s to teach you how to exercise safely and intentionally for your individual spinal pattern.

Your spine is unique. Your exercise program should be, too.
