It's October and the Florida humidity is still winning.

Anna Peacock knows that fight firsthand. Her hair is thick and frizzy, and before her keratin smoothing treatment it took forever to dry.

Now it's her favorite service to give, and that's the difference. She isn't just doing the treatment. She knows what it feels like to live with the frizz, and what it feels like when it's gone.

Anna is our resident keratin specialist here at West Coast Hair Design in Jacksonville. She's Keratin Complex NKST certified and spent almost three years learning under Heather.

If your hair is still losing to the humidity, go talk to Anna.

Gray coming in faster than you can keep up with?

Cathy Leeper has been coloring gray hair for over 35 years. She'll tell you straight whether you need full gray coverage or just a blend. Those are two different things, and figuring out which one you want is the whole conversation.

We wanted to show you the difference between real hair and AI hair.

Every slide has the same photo twice. One is real hair on a real guest, created by our stylists here at West Coast Hair Design in Jacksonville. The other has been enhanced with AI.

These are all balayage, lived-in color, and foil highlights, so look at what changes.

The texture disappears. The shine goes up. The hair gets thicker. Every strand falls perfectly into place, the flyaways vanish, and the color gets smoother than real hair can actually be.

The real hair was already beautiful. AI just made it impossible to match.

Please keep bringing inspiration photos to your appointment. They show us what you love, and they give us a chance to talk honestly about what’s real, what’s been enhanced, and what we can actually create with your hair.

Real hair moves. It has texture. It has a few flyaways. And that’s the good stuff.

Send this to the friend whose saved hair folder is mostly AI. 🤍

Kayla Tarantino paints hair the way some people paint on canvas.

Balayage is her favorite thing to do, hands down. Watch her paint and you'll see why we call it art. She loves truly beautiful hair, and that's what balayage is.

Here at West Coast Hair Design in Jacksonville, we believe natural California girl balayage doesn't get any prettier. Hand-painted, sun-kissed, like salt water and sun gave it to you.

If you've got a picture saved on your phone, bring it to Kayla.

Some of you moved away and still call just to check we're still here.

We are! West Coast Hair Design, Jacksonville, since 1995.

How long have you been coming in? Tell me, I love reading these.

Gray coverage doesn’t have to mean doing the same thing every time you come in.

Hair by Heather Lucas has gotten into a pattern with this beautiful guest that works so well for her hair. One appointment she covers her gray at the roots, and the next appointment she highlights her hair to keep her blonde bright and dimensional.

That’s what we love about gray coverage. There isn’t one formula or one schedule that works for everybody. We change what we do based on your gray, your color and what your hair needs at that appointment.

And can we just talk about her hair? She really does have the BEST hair. We love having her in the salon and appreciate her more than she knows. 🤍

That's Heather Lucas at 15, at her very first Bumble and bumble class.

She started here at 14.

Today she's one of about 30 stylists in the entire country in the House of Bumble Collective, and she's the one teaching all our newest stylists now.

Some of you have known her since she was a teenager.

Say hi to her in the comments!

What is Balayage and why do we love it?🖌

If you’re tired of seeing a harsh line every time your color starts to grow out, balayage might be what you’re looking for.

Balayage gives you soft, dimensional color that blends naturally into your own hair, so you can go longer between appointments without feeling like your color has suddenly “grown out.”

It’s that effortless, sun-kissed look that feels natural rather than overly done. And when it’s done well, you shouldn’t be able to see exactly where your color starts and your natural hair ends.

That’s a big part of why we love balayage so much—and why we’ve spent years mastering the technique. 🤍
