Salon Pk Manager Charlina Williams spoke with local news about the recent appointment scam that has brought 20+ victims to our salon after they unknowingly sent money to a fake TikTok account.

But we want to be clear: this is bigger than Salon PK.

Our goal in sharing this story is not simply to protect our salon. It’s to help protect people from being scammed, whether they’re trying to book an appointment with us or ANY business.

These scammers are creating fake social media pages, requesting deposits through payment apps, and using legitimate business addresses to make the transaction appear real.

🚩 Please pay attention to the red flags.

🚩 Verify that you are communicating with the business’s official social media account.

🚩 Be cautious when someone asks you to send a deposit through Cash App, Zelle or another person-to-person payment method.

🚩 Never wait until after you send money to receive or verify a business address.

🚩 When in doubt, call the business directly using the phone number listed on its official website or Google Business profile.

🚩 If something still doesn’t feel right, physically visit the business before sending your money.
