There’s a q***r horror comedy film premiering at Tibbs Drive-In Theatre July 17.

“Jodi” follows a video vixen who loves rock ’n’ roll, her rockstar girlfriend TJ and locking men in her torture shed.

It’s set on the east side in modern times but it feels like 1989. It takes place a year after a trainwreck spilled toxic waste into the water supply resulting in reports of psychosis.

This will be the first feature film local filmmaker Karla Carter and her production company, Braless Cowboy, bring to life.

“It explores how lower income neighborhoods can get forgotten by their government and be at the mercy of landlords,” said Carter.

She said “Hoosier hospitality” helped her get the project over the finish line, including filming for free at The Vogue, Black Circle and at friends’ homes in the Little Flower neighborhood.

The film's total cost was around $30,000. She funded most of it through her day job.

“Jodi” is screening July 17-26 at Tibbs Drive-In Theatre.
