Why does emotionally unavailable love feel impossible to leave? In my new post I unpack the gap between knowing and doing, why it's not a character flaw, and how change becomes possible when patterns shift. Read the full article and get practical clarity — 18-minute read: https://wix.to/IXhy5ZW
Why Does Emotionally Unavailable Love Feel So Hard to Leave? You've made the list. You know what the right choice is. Between the knowing and the doing is a chasm — and the reason it won't close isn't a character flaw. Here's what's actually happening, and what becomes possible when the pattern starts to shift.

One of the greatest gifts we can give our children isn’t endless self-sacrifice—it’s showing them what healthy kindness, boundaries, and self-respect look like. When we stop abandoning ourselves, we stop teaching our children that love requires self-abandonment too.
Here’s a great resource.
Part 3: How Fawning Disguises Itself as Kindness, Empathy, or Being “Easygoing” Fawning isn’t obvious because it doesn’t look dysfunctional. It looks helpful. And that’s exactly why so many high-capacity women stay trapped in this pattern for decades.

Do I think people can change?
Absolutely.
But I don’t think change happens because someone finally finds the perfect piece of advice or decides to “think differently.”
If thinking alone could solve it, most of us would have changed years ago.
The habits we can’t break, the reactions we can’t stop, and the patterns we keep repeating often aren’t a lack of knowledge. They’re protective responses that once helped us survive.
You can’t simply out-think a nervous system that believes it’s keeping you safe.
Lasting change usually requires more than insight. It requires creating enough safety for the body to stop running an old protective pattern.
That’s why willpower eventually runs out.
When the hidden emotional pattern no longer has a job to do, the behavior often changes with far less effort.
Can people change?
Yes.
I see it every week.
But it rarely happens by arguing with yourself. It happens by understanding what your mind and body have been trying to protect all along.

I’m building a library of 80 articles for the questions people search when they’re hurting, confused, or stuck in a pattern they can’t quite explain.
The goal: more awareness, less shame, and one small step toward relief.
Today is 2/80: Why Emotionally Available Love Feels Boring.
If you’ve ever confused anxiety with chemistry, or felt strangely flat when someone steady showed up, this one may help.
Please help me get some eyes 👀 on it and share with anyone who might benefit.

I got a little lighthouse-y this morning thinking about summer plans. ☀️🚐
It made me think about why I do this work.
The thing that drives me in my business is admittedly a little lofty.
I don’t dream about building the biggest company.
I dream about helping one person at a time restore access to a calmer, steadier sense of themselves.
Because I’ve watched what happens.
Again and again, I see them stop being hijacked by other people’s opinions, life’s circumstances, old fears, and imagined limitations.
They become more grounded, present, themselves.
And not because they’ve learned to be tougher, meaner or better at pretending.
It’s because they no longer have to.
And from there, something beautiful happens.
❤️ Less guilt-driven action creates less resentment.
❤️ Less fear-driven action creates more room for love, opportunity, health, and possibility.
❤️ Less control-driven action creates better relationships, more energy, and more peace.
I’ve experienced this transformation in my own life, and I’ve had the privilege of watching it unfold in hundreds of clients over the last 25 years.
No, it’s probably not the fastest summer road trip.
But maybe the best journeys aren’t measured in miles, in the journey — in how much freedom we regain.
Because every person who finds a little more peace, a little more choice, and a little more ease creates a ripple that reaches their family, friends, coworkers, and community.
I am motivated by the impact of those ripples.
Because I think the world could use a little more of that. 🌎❤️
If you’ve been feeling like you’ve lost access to yourself—or you’re simply curious about what this kind of work looks like for you—I have a few openings for discovery conversations.
No pressure. No pitch. Just a chance to explore what’s possible.
Send me a message if you’d like the link.
I’d also love to know…
When you picture a “better life,” what does that actually feel like to you?

"I know exactly what I should do. I still can't make myself do it."
If you've ever said that about a relationship — about someone who isn't fully choosing you back — you already know the gap this article is about. It's the space between knowing and being able to act, and it's wider and more painful than most advice accounts for.
Here's what's actually happening: emotionally unavailable relationships often activate the nervous system before they ever activate the heart. Silence triggers a kind of alarm. Their sudden warmth afterward triggers enormous relief — relief that feels like love, but is often regulation. Your body mistaking the end of a threat for the start of connection.
Underneath that pattern is usually an old, unspoken equation: if I can get love from someone unavailable, I'll finally prove I'm worthy of love. It's not weakness. It's a survival strategy still running on outdated information, trying to finish a story that never got the ending it needed.
The question worth asking isn't "why can't I just leave." It's: what is this protecting?
Because shame has never once helped anyone leave a pattern. Understanding does — and once the protection underneath is actually understood, the old dynamic doesn't have to be white-knuckled past. It gradually stops registering as exciting at all.
You don't need fixing. You need access.

Love should not feel like walking on eggshells.
True intimacy feels like exhaling — safe, steady, seen. Don’t settle for less. You are worthy of love that calms your nervous system, not shatters it.
