Your first physical therapy visit should be more than a conversation about where it hurts.

At Unify Physical Therapy & Wellness, your evaluation is designed to understand the whole picture: your history, symptoms, movement, strength, goals, and what may actually be contributing to the problem.

From mobility and strength testing to diagnostic ultrasound, movement analysis, nerve testing, and more, we use the right tools to create a clear picture of what’s happening.

Then, we build a personalized plan around your body, your goals, and your life.

Your care will always start from day one. Depending on your needs, your evaluation may include hands-on care, dry needling, or personalized rehab exercises so you can begin moving forward with confidence.

You’ll leave with an understanding of: What is happening → Why it may be happening → What we can do about it → What you can do next.

That’s the Unify approach to physical therapy.

Dry needling for TMJ? Yes, it can be part of the solution.

TMD can involve more than just the jaw joint. Tight or overactive muscles around the jaw, neck, and face can contribute to pain, tension, limited movement, and even headaches.

Dry needling is one tool we may use to address those involved muscles and help improve movement and reduce pain.

At Unify Physical Therapy & Wellness, treatment is based on your symptoms, your examination, and what’s contributing to your TMD, not a one-size-fits-all approach.

Depending on your needs, your plan may include dry needling, manual therapy, mobility work, neuromuscular re-education, and targeted exercises.

The goal? Not just to treat the pain, but to understand why it’s happening and help you move and feel better.

Have questions about dry needling for TMJ/TMD? Send us a message or book an evaluation.

We are incredibly honored to share that the City has officially proclaimed July 11 as Dr. Kimberly Sam Aing & Unify Physical Therapy & Wellness Day.

What started as an idea to create a different kind of physical therapy practice has grown into something far greater than I ever imagined.

From the beginning, my goal wasn’t simply to open a clinic. It was to create a place where people feel heard, cared for, and given the time they deserve. A place that puts people before volume and relationships before transactions.

This recognition belongs to every patient who trusted us, every family who referred someone they love, every partner who believed in our mission, and every member of our community who has supported us along the way. Thank you for believing in a different approach to healthcare.

I’m also deeply grateful to my friend and architectural designer for the thoughtful gift and for helping bring this vision to life in such a meaningful way.

I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve this community, and we’re just getting started.

With gratitude,

Dr. Kimberly Sam Aing

Your hamstring stopped hurting but that doesn’t mean it’s ready for your next workout.

Hamstring strains are one of the most common injuries we see in active adults. Whether it happened during a sprint, a workout, a pickup game, or simply moving too quickly, returning to activity too soon can lead to reinjury and an even longer recovery.

Here’s what a typical recovery timeline looks like:

Mild Strain (Grade 1)
Recovery: 1–3 weeks

- Walking and daily activities are usually tolerated early
- Light strengthening begins as symptoms improve
- Gradual return to jogging and exercise

Moderate Strain (Grade 2)
Recovery: 4–8 weeks

- Focus on restoring mobility and strength
- Progressive loading of the hamstring
- Return to running and higher-level activities as strength improves

Severe Strain (Grade 3)
Recovery: 2–4+ months

- More extensive rehabilitation is required
- Strength, flexibility, and movement mechanics must be restored
- Return to recreational sports and higher-intensity exercise is gradual

One of the biggest misconceptions about hamstring injuries is that recovery is complete when the pain goes away. In reality, the muscle needs to regain strength, capacity, and resilience before returning to full activity.

The goal isn’t just to feel better, it’s to return to running, training, and living an active lifestyle without the injury coming back.

If you’re dealing with a hamstring strain, can help guide your recovery and reduce the risk of reinjury.

Most lower-body injuries are not caused by a single movement. They occur when the body can no longer meet the demands placed on it.

Physical therapy helps athletes reduce injury risk by restoring strength, improving movement quality, and preparing the body to perform under load. The goal is not simply to recover from injury, but to build a more resilient athlete who can train, compete, and perform consistently.

Common injuries involving the hamstrings, groin, ankles, and hips are often associated with:

- Strength deficits and muscle imbalances
- Mobility restrictions that limit efficient movement
- Poor sprinting, cutting, landing, or deceleration mechanics
- Fatigue-related breakdowns in movement patterns

Physical therapy addresses these issues through:

- Comprehensive movement assessments to identify limitations and asymmetries
- Progressive strength training tailored to the athlete’s demands
- Mobility interventions to improve joint function and movement efficiency
- Retraining of movement mechanics to optimize performance and reduce stress on vulnerable tissues
- Gradual reintroduction of high-speed, sport-specific activities to prepare athletes for return to competition

The objective is not simply to get athletes out of pain. It is to help them move better, perform at a higher level, and remain available when it matters most.
