Day 3 of our Hoʻoulu Youth Braiding Course! ✨

Today’s class started with a review of the feed-in cornrows we learned on Day 2 before diving into our main goal: foundational box braid installation. 💛

By the end of class, every student had box braids installed on their mannequin while building more precision, confidence, and trust in what their hands are capable of.

I was so impressed by how quickly these young ladies learned feed-in box braids that I couldn’t stop there! 🙌🏽 Their dedication inspired me to teach them a BONUS lesson on installing faux locs and synthetic hair extensions via hook-and-latch method.

Watching these youth discover their talent reminds me why I fell in love with mentoring. It’s about so much more than braiding—it’s about building confidence, and creating entrepreneurial opportunities that can change lives.

✨ Day 2 of Hoʻoulu Youth Braiding Course ✨

Today, our goal was to strengthen braid control and begin mastering feed-in techniques through guided repetition.

By the end of class, each student worked toward completing a feed-in cornrow on their mannequin—and let me tell you, that’s no easy task! Feed-in braids take time, patience, and lots of practice. Every attempt builds confidence, and every mistake is part of the learning process.

Hina Tita Buns by Hina I am so incredibly proud of you. At just 14 years old, your tenacity, patience, and resilience continue to shine. You didn’t give up, even when today’s technique challenged you. That’s the kind of mindset that creates growth—not just in braiding, but in life.
