TIP TUESDAY | Why use an eye cream?

The skin around our eyes is thinner and more delicate than much of the skin on our face. It also has fewer oil glands, which can make dryness, fine lines and changes in texture or firmness more noticeable.

That’s where a product specifically formulated for the eye area can be a beautiful addition to your skincare regime.

A little tip for my fellow hooded-eye ladies: its not only about our under-eye area. Gently caring for the upper eye area can be important too. Take your eye cream out to the side and up as well as over your lid.

Skincare isn't about erasing every line or trying not to age. I’m embracing the gray AND the lines that come with a life lived. Skincare is about caring for our skin through every season and feeling confident in it.

Whether you’re being proactive or giving a little extra love to changes you’re already noticing, eye care can be a small but worthwhile step in our routine.

There’s something about richer shades when fall rolls in 🍂 Not necessarily MORE makeup…just a shift.

A touch more depth around the eyes. Maybe a richer lip. Maybe rediscovering a shade you haven’t reached for in a while.

I appreciate how small color shifts can enhance our look in different seasons. We don’t need a whole new makeup bag or a complicated routine. Sometimes it’s simply knowing where to add a little depth and dimension and which colors help us come alive.

And this soft smoky eye? She’s definitely having a moment all her own. I think we’re ready for fall.

Here’s our permission slip to stop fighting our skin. Sometimes our skin didn’t get the memo that we’ve “ALWAYS been oily”…or dry…or combination…or whatever label we gave it years ago.

Temperature changes. Hormones change. Seasons change. WE change. Sometimes our skin simply needs something different than it did six months ago or even six weeks ago.

Case in point…these two pictures. One is me, fresh faced, no makeup, a few more lines and wrinkles than I used to have…and perfectly okay with that.

The other? Full face. Lashes cooperating. All the things. And apparently my face saying, “Okayyyy…what is going on here?”

I’m learning instead of fighting what my skin is doing or insisting it should behave the way it always has it’s much better to pay attention to what it’s telling me NOW.

Sometimes the answer isn’t more product. It’s just the right product for the season we’re in. Our skin changes. We adjust. And that’s completely normal.

Anyone else finding themselves somewhere in the messy middle of “this is what my skin has ALWAYS done” and “wait…what is happening now?” 🥴🤣

Apparently I found the perfect use for an extra 15 minutes this morning.

Radiance Peel, Charcoal Mask and my “magic petals”…all while drinking my 2nd cup of coffee in bed ☕️🙌

I don’t often think, “Oh, I have a few extra minutes, I should use them on myself” 🥴…but today I did, and it was pretty lovely.

Now the coffee is gone, the skincare is off, and I’m switching gears to prep for a certain little person’s 2nd birthday party! 🎂🎉

As we start packing away some of the summer things, there’s one thing I’m definitely keeping out...my SPF! We tend to think of sunscreen as a summer thing, but our skin needs that protection year-round, even on those cloudy fall days.

A little Skincare Awareness Month reminder that’s SO easy to forget…our skincare doesn’t have to stop at our chin 🩷
As we're cleansing, moisturizing and using our serums, bring that goodness down to your neck and upper chest. Those areas get plenty of sun and environmental exposure, but somehow they’re often the first places we forget. No extra step or extra product just keep going with what you’re already using.
An easy habit to begin that our future neck and décolleté may thank us for!
One little exception…if you’re using the 0.3% Retinol, our necks can be much more sensitive because the skin is thinner. I’d test a small area first before bringing that one down.
