Did you know that women's buttons are usually on the left side of the garment and mens are typically on the right?
Starting in the 18th-19th centuries, in wealthy households women wore garments that were hard to fasten themselves. Putting the buttons on the left
made it easier for the seamstress to sew on the buttons.
Men typically dress themselves and for right handed man it was more convenient to have the buttons on the right side of the garment.

Sew-U-nique will be hosting a Complimentary Sewing class on August 22, 2026. This class will be held from 1:00pm-2:30pm and you will be able to create your own patchwork pillow or draw string bag.
Registration fees have been waived, all you pay for are the supplies.
