Welcome to Qi & Happiness!!! I have met so many inspirational people along my journey through music & Traditional Chinese Medicine. I created page where all of you can share your wellness techniques and inspiration. This is a place to share and grow as a community. This is a place to share, connect, educate and increase wellness. I believe wellness is happiness. When your mind body & spirit is connected you want to give and share with others. Chinese 101 - 喜 (xǐ) Joyful, be fond of
The Book of Songs is the first known collection of Chinese folklore, collecting works from the 11th to the 7th century BC. Its first poem was written by King Wen of the Zhou Dynasty who wrote for his wife, “I play the Guqin to be your friend. I play the bell and drums to make you happy.”
If we look closely at the character 喜 (xǐ), we see that the upper part is a drum and the lower is a big, laughing mouth. This shows that people have been playing drums and celebrating with music for thousands of years. At Shen Yun we continue this tradition in our performances!
The character 喜 (xǐ) can also be written as 囍 (xǐ). This character symbolizes “Double Happiness” and is often used when celebrating weddings.
